Chapter 988: Don't Overthink It

After hearing the bedroom door close, Evelyn blushed and opened the bathroom door, carefully bringing in the towel and clothes from the doorway.

The clothes were Dermot's, carrying his woody scent, though they didn't quite fit her.

But right now, Evelyn didn't mind. She'd make do and change when she got home.

With that thought, she put on Dermot's shirt and stepped out of the bathroom.

Luckily, there was heating; otherwise, in this weather, the house would be freezing.

Evelyn walked from the bedroom to the living room. Dermot was still on the sofa. Hearing her footsteps, he quickly turned around and asked, "Feeling better?"

"Yeah, much better." She still felt dizzy, but the soreness had eased a bit.

"I got the medicine. You're a doctor, so you decide what to take." He had asked the pharmacist but figured Evelyn would know better.

Evelyn nodded and picked up the medicine Dermot had bought.

She had to admit, Dermot had bought everything she might need, including antibiotics. "Thanks."

Evelyn took the fever reducer but didn't take anything else, planning to see how she felt the next day.

If it got worse, she'd take antibiotics. If she felt better, she wouldn't take anything else.

"Sorry to trouble you. I'll head home now." It was late, and she didn't want to bother him further.

But Dermot stopped her, saying, "You're wearing so little. If you go out, you'll catch a cold. Do you want to make it worse?" His voice had a hint of reproach as he guided Evelyn back to the bedroom.

"No. If anyone should take the guest room, it should be me," Evelyn remarked. Then she suggested, "Or could you lend me a down jacket to wear home?"

After all, it was just a short walk. It wasn't as dramatic as Dermot made it out to be.

"Get some rest and don't overthink it," Dermot said, turning and leaving the bedroom, not giving Evelyn a chance to leave.

Evelyn felt helpless. Maybe because of the fever reducer, she quickly felt drowsy. She thought she wouldn't be able to sleep in someone else's bed, but she fell asleep surprisingly fast.

Meanwhile, Dermot in the guest room was still awake, feeling a bit excited knowing Evelyn was just next door.

He knew that Evelyn choosing to seek his help when she had a fever meant she trusted him.

Maybe it was time to tell her his feelings.

Even though things were good between them now, and there were no other guys posing a threat, what if?

It might be better to officially make her his girlfriend. That would give him a reason for any jealousy that might arise, unlike the current situation.

Thinking about this, Dermot unknowingly stayed awake all night. When he finally wanted to sleep, he realized it was almost dawn.

He got out of bed, opened the door, and walked to the kitchen.

Evelyn with a fever shouldn't eat greasy food, so Dermot decided to make her some porridge and started busying himself in the kitchen.

In the bedroom, Evelyn slept soundly, completely unaware that Dermot hadn't slept all night and was already up and busy in the kitchen.

When she woke up, it was already eight in the morning, with gentle winter sunlight beginning to filter into the bedroom.

Winter sunlight was especially precious, so Evelyn didn't stay in bed any longer.
