Chapter 476 She Was Also Confused

Evelyn nodded in response, guessing that this row was probably reserved for distinguished alumni, some of whom were notable figures she had known during her time at the university.

However, back then, she hadn't paid much attention, focusing solely on her studies and maintaining a general relationship with her classmates. Now, returning here, she hardly knew anyone.

"Hello, I'm Evelyn," she replied politely, showing no intention of continuing the conversation.

But the man next to her didn't seem to want to let it go and kept asking, "You're so young, you must have graduated not long ago, right? To be invited back as a distinguished alumnus, you must be quite exceptional."

"I'm just curious, have you had any research experience? Or which hospital are you developing your career in?"

To be seated here meant either having a famous research background or holding a position in a top hospital. Geoffrey was the latter.

He worked as a chief physician at Columbia Hospital and was quite proud of it.

Evelyn frowned, not knowing what to say about that, "I work at Moris Hospital."

As for famous research experience, she had some, but it was all published abroad under the guidance of her professors. Evelyn felt that didn't represent real strength and chose not to mention it.

Many in the room perked their ears to their conversation, curious about how the title of distinguished alumni was defined.

Hearing that Evelyn worked at Moris Hospital, many showed a change in expression, looking down on her.

Moris Hospital might be well-known in Moris City but was just a regular tertiary hospital nationally and had little international fame. They couldn't understand how someone from such a place could be considered a distinguished alumnus.

Evelyn saw the change in their attitudes but didn't care.

She was here to give face to the university. As for the others, she had no interest in them.

Her attention was on the stage where the president had begun to speak. Evelyn listened intently, ignoring Geoffrey's odd expression.

The speech ended quickly, and then it was time for the distinguished alumni to speak. The speaker was said to work in a big shot's lab, publishing papers prolifically, and many were flattering him, hoping to be included in his next publication.

Evelyn didn't care about these things. She just wanted to leave after the celebration.

But fate had other plans. After the speeches, the dean of the medical school invited the distinguished alumni to dinner. Under such circumstances, Evelyn had no choice but to go along.

In the restaurant's private room, many were chatting enthusiastically with the dean. Perhaps their achievements over the years had lessened their fear of the once formidable dean.

Evelyn sat in a corner, quietly eating, content to be invisible.

"Evelyn, don't just sit there eating by yourself. Stand up and share your experiences with your classmates. Even though you're not from the same year, you're all from the same school. You should look out for each other," the dean suddenly called out to Evelyn.

Many were surprised. They all knew Evelyn worked at Moris Hospital. What experience could someone from such a hospital possibly have that they would need?

Evelyn was also bewildered. Did the dean still remember her after all these years?
