Chapter 1051: Then You Better Keep a Close Eye on Him
Craig didn't want to, but he felt like he and Ruby were miles apart, and nothing he did would bring her back.
"If I kill Alex, maybe I'll have a chance. If he stays alive, I have no shot," Craig insisted, his resolve hardening every time he saw Ruby and Alex together. Their closeness made him want to act immediately.
Dermot shook his head. "Do you really think that? Don't you know what kind of person Ruby is?"
Even though Dermot hadn't interacted much with Ruby, he had a sense of her personality through Evelyn.
If Craig did something to Alex, Ruby wouldn't just reject him; she'd see him as an enemy.
Craig seemed to get it and held his head in frustration. "Then what should I do? Just watch them get closer and do nothing?"
He couldn't.
"Craig, want to hear the truth?" Dermot asked, looking sad.
Craig nodded, then quickly shook his head. "I don't want to hear it. I believe she still loves me; she's just mad about my past actions. I'll make her forgive me."
Dermot sighed. Craig wasn't willing to listen, so there was no point in saying more.
Craig was just fooling himself.
"Good luck," Dermot said.
After comforting Craig, Dermot went downstairs, leaving him alone in the study to think.
Evelyn was watching a movie with Ruby and the others. When she saw Dermot coming down, she quickly walked over. "What's going on with Craig? He's not planning something against Alex, is he?"
Earlier, Craig had stormed off and then called Dermot into the study, making Evelyn worry.
Seeing her anxiety, Dermot hesitated, then reassured her, "Don't worry, not right now."
"So, he really is thinking about it?" Evelyn quickly picked up on the loophole in Dermot's words. "Not for now" implied he might act later.
Dermot chuckled, "Evelyn, why are you so perceptive?"
"Warn him. If he dares to make a move, the Kyte family won't let him off easily." Even though Alex wasn't her subordinate and hadn't started a relationship with Ruby yet, Evelyn couldn't tolerate reckless people like Craig.
Dermot sighed, "Don't worry; I'll keep an eye on him."
He knew Evelyn wasn't joking, so he had to try to dissuade Craig as much as possible. After all, one was his lover, and the other was his good friend; he couldn't give up on either.
"Then you better keep a close watch on him. If he does do that, I won't let him off the hook." Even if Craig was Dermot's friend, Evelyn wouldn't let him off easily.
Seeing Evelyn's serious face, Dermot felt a bit helpless. "Got it; don't worry."
After that, they went over to watch the movie together, waiting for midnight.
Two minutes before midnight, the group walked out of the villa. In front of each person was a row of fireworks, just waiting to be lit at midnight.
"Evelyn, remember to make a wish later," Ruby reminded.
"Make a wish? Will it really come true?" Evelyn was curious. For her, setting off fireworks was just about creating a festive atmosphere.
Ruby gazed at the sky, a faint smile on her lips. "Who knows? But what if it does?"
