Chapter 685: Do You Hate Jiang Mian?
The banquet continued, signifying various implications for the Kyte and Allen families. The alliance between the two held significant weight, as no other family would dare to challenge them.
Yet, some individuals remained doubtful about their collaboration, aware of the true motives behind the event.
It was already fortunate that the Allen family didn't despise the Kyte family, cooperation seemed unlikely.
Of course, some believed that things would change after the marriage. For the sake of mutual interests, the two families would definitely come together.
Evelyn was unaware of the public's speculations, and even if she knew, she wouldn't care. She didn't know what the future held, but for now, the two families were indeed cooperating, though many were unaware of it.
Evelyn wanted to find Ruby. But from a distance, she saw someone chatting with Ruby, and it was a handsome guy. So, she decided not to approach.
If Ruby could find new love, Evelyn would be happy for her.
However, Ruby didn't seem very interested, probably not too keen on the guy.
Scanning the room, everyone had smiles on their faces. Evelyn sighed, thinking that perhaps the only person not happy at this moment was Wade.
Evelyn's gaze fell on Wade unconsciously, but she noticed that even he had a smile on his face, indicating he was in a good mood.
Wade appeared to be engaged in a business discussion, and whether it was due to the positive progression of the negotiations or other reasons, he seemed notably happier than before.
Evelyn averted her gaze, suggesting that she may have underestimated Wade.
Maybe Wade didn't care much about her happiness, but more about the interests of the Allen family.
Looking around again, Evelyn saw Dermot and Margaret was holding Dermot's arm.
The two attended together tonight, essentially making their relationship public. Evelyn didn't know others' thought, but she felt they made a good match.
Perhaps because of Margaret, Dermot was also a focal point tonight. This banquet was a great opportunity for him.
Evelyn was wondering if other members of the Doyle family were present when someone approached her, "Mrs. Kyte."
Evelyn turned to see the person who had asked for a ride at the Doyle family gate that day, "Mr. Doyle."
"Just call me Jeffery, no need to be so formal." Jeffery smiled. Despite being in his twenties, his eyes were full of calculation.
Evelyn found a place to sit, and Jeffery followed, "Can I call you Evelyn?"
"Suit yourself." Evelyn didn't refuse, she was curious about what Jeffery wanted.
"Evelyn," Jeffery called sweetly. If it weren't for the calculation in his eyes, Evelyn might have been charmed.
After all, everyone liked a young, handsome guy.
Evelyn looked at Jeffery, waiting for him to speak.
Feeling Evelyn's gaze, Jeffery inexplicably felt nervous, as if his little schemes had been seen through.
Jeffery cleared his throat to ease the awkwardness, "Evelyn, today is a big day for the Kyte family, but you don't seem very happy."
"Of course, who can be happy seeing someone they dislike succeed?" Evelyn rubbed her forehead, pretending to be troubled.
Jeffery became interested, "Do you really dislike Lucia?"
"Yes." Evelyn nodded. It was common knowledge, nothing to hide. She mainly wanted to see what Jeffery was up to.
Hearing this, Jeffery smiled, "I can help you. I don't like her either."
