Chapter 700: I Have to Endure

Chapter 700: I Must Endure

Evelyn set down her utensils and looked at Lucia with a pitiful expression. "Have you ever thought that Wade might really hate you?"

"Impossible! It must be you," Lucia refused to admit it.

Evelyn shook her head, convinced that Lucia was beyond redemption. She rose to depart but made sure to remind Lucia.

"Remember to go back early. If you return late and make Wade unhappy, you won't be able to stay in either the Kyte family or the Allen family."

Ignoring Lucia's furious outbursts, she departed, leaving her behind.

At that moment, Lucia seethed with impotent rage, cursing Evelyn with no effect. The servants and even Dora regarded her with disdain.

Dora dismissed the servants, letting Lucia curse until she was exhausted. Only then did she speak, "Feel better now?"

Lucia paused. She said nothing but gritted her teeth.

"Perhaps I've protected you too well all these years, now you have no ability to control yourself and can't handle anything independently," Dora regretted.

She had a single daughter, Lucia, whom she had sheltered and protected throughout her childhood, believing it was for her own benefit.

Now, Dora came to the realization that subjecting Lucia to challenges may have been what was truly beneficial for her.

However, certain actions could not be reversed. Dora's current course of action was to allow Lucia to mature, to help her comprehend that no one could bear all responsibilities on her behalf indefinitely.

Lucia still felt wronged, but at least she didn't cry. "Mom, I understand what you mean, but Wade is really torturing me on purpose."

"Didn't I tell you about this before you went? And what did you say then?" Dora's face was cold. She had reminded Lucia last night, but Lucia hadn't listened and had even mocked her.

Lucia pursed her lips and said nothing.

After all, she was her daughter, and Dora couldn't bear to be too harsh. She reached out and patted Lucia's shoulder. "Learn to grow up. It's just a bit of hardship, it's okay."

"Mom."

Lucia was unwilling. She always felt that worse things were waiting for her.

"If you don't want to, then I'll go to the Allen family and cancel the engagement," Dora said indifferently.

Hearing this, Lucia hesitated.

Even though Wade was torturing her, she was unwilling to cancel the engagement.

With Wade's situation known to all, if the engagement were called off, she feared not only losing the chance to marry someone better but also Hubert might no longer wish to marry her.

If she couldn't get married...

At this thought, Lucia immediately shook her head. "No, I don't want to cancel the engagement."

No matter what, even if Wade treated her poorly, she could still use the Allen family name to her advantage, always standing above Evelyn.

"If you don't want to, then endure it," Dora sighed in relief. She was really afraid that Lucia would act impulsively and cancel the engagement. If that happened, even she would be disappointed in Lucia.

Lucia clenched her teeth and nodded. "Mom, please help me speed things up. I want to get married as soon as possible," she urged. Lucia believed that perhaps after their marriage, Wade would no longer mistreat her.

If Wade needed to release his anger now, let him. Once his outburst was over, they would still be a couple.

"Alright, I'll handle it," Dora agreed. Given the current situation, maybe it was best to get married soon.

On one hand, delaying could lead to changes, and on the other hand, she thought that perhaps after the marriage, Wade might change his mind and stop tormenting Lucia.

After they reached an agreement, Lucia left the Kyte family. In her heart, she told herself that no matter what, she had to endure.
