Chapter 936: Fool
After Randy and Evelyn left, Otis smirked and said, "Dermot, kneel and beg, and maybe I'll give you a dignified death."
Dermot shot back, "Idiot!"
"What did you say?" Otis was shocked Dermot was still so cocky. Did he really think he could walk out of here alive?
Ignoring Otis, Dermot looked at Joshua. "Wanna team up?"
"Yeah," Joshua replied. He'd rather see Dermot dead, but saving Evelyn was the priority.
Suddenly, gunfire erupted. Otis's bodyguard yanked him aside just in time to save him.
"Take them out! No survivors!" Otis yelled, fear and anger in his voice.
A fierce battle broke out, with many casualties, but no one inside the villa was hurt.
Inside, Evelyn sat on the sofa, listening to the gunfire. She looked calm, but her heart was racing.
Otis had brought so many people; could Dermot and Joshua handle them?
"Think Dermot will survive today?" Randy asked, trying to make small talk.
Evelyn shot him a cold look. "Of course he will."
She believed in Dermot.
"Really? I doubt it," Randy sneered. If Dermot survived, the Doyle family would be his.
Randy didn't say more, but Evelyn asked, "Is Ruby in the villa next door?"
"Yeah. You planning to rescue her now?" Randy thought Evelyn should worry about herself.
"She's innocent. You won't involve her, right?" Evelyn asked.
Randy just smiled faintly, leaving Evelyn unsure of his intentions.
The gunfire continued, and Ruby, in a room on the second floor of the neighboring villa, heard it too. She was anxious.
What was happening? Why were there gunshots?
She went to the window but saw nothing. The gunfire seemed to come from the opposite side.
She bit her lip and walked to the door, hoping the bodyguards had left so she could escape.
She opened the door.
"What do you think you're doing?" The bodyguards glared at her.
Ruby forced a smile. "What's going on outside?"
"Get back inside; it's none of your business!" one bodyguard said, closing the door.
Ruby had no choice but to return to her room.
She couldn't calm down. In that brief moment, she had seen Dermot.
Was Dermot involved in the gunfight?
Could Evelyn have brought Dermot to rescue her?
The more she thought about it, the more it made sense. Guilt washed over her. If Evelyn and Dermot got hurt because of her, she'd never forgive herself.
On the lawn, Dermot and Joshua found cover. Both looked grim.
"At this rate, we're all gonna die here," Joshua said, firing his gun and glancing at Dermot.
"Don't worry; we won't die," Dermot said confidently, hinting he had a plan.
