Chapter 298 You've caused trouble for yourself
Evelyn's hand holding the food paused in mid-air as she looked at Arianna Morgans in astonishment. "Auntie, are you joking with me?"
"What am I joking about? Auntie is serious," Arianna Morgans replied.
Morgan smiled and gently pulled Emily's arm. "Emily, after all, she is your cousin. We are all family. We can't just watch her achieve nothing, right?"
Emily also looked at Evelyn with a smile on her face. "Evelyn, we are counting on you."
Evelyn was speechless. Now you're relying on me? You didn't have this attitude before.
But in front of Uncle Joe, Evelyn couldn't say something so harsh. She just didn't know how to refuse.
"It's already difficult for Evelyn to live alone in Moris City. It would be best if you don't cause any trouble for her," Joseph Morgans spoke up, reprimanding Emily.
He knew his daughter's personality very well. He didn't believe that she truly wanted to find a job in Moris City. She probably had some ulterior motive.
"Dad!"
Emily was a bit angry. "You've always favored Evelyn since we were young. You treat her so well, so what's wrong with letting her help me find a job? Do you just want to see me like this for the rest of my life?"
She also felt aggrieved. From childhood to adulthood, besides her mother always being on her side, everyone else in the family liked Evelyn.
Even Aidan and Niall, who were adopted by their grandfather, always protected Evelyn and completely ignored her. Despite being Joseph Morgans' daughter, she lived a worse life than Evelyn!
The more she thought about it, the more she felt wronged, and she couldn't help but cry, making the atmosphere at the dinner table uncomfortable.
Joseph Morgans originally wanted to scold his daughter a few words, but now that he saw her crying, he couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for her.
Helpless, he sighed and remained silent, just drinking his wine.
Evelyn observed everything and didn't want to make it difficult for her uncle, so she spoke up. "Cousin, if you really want to go, pack your things tonight. We'll leave for Moris City early tomorrow morning."
Emily, who was crying, was overjoyed when she heard this. "So you agreed?"
"Yeah," Evelyn nodded, but then hurriedly added, "But I can't guarantee that I'll find you a good job. You should be mentally prepared."
Emily Morgans only graduated from high school, and it's really difficult to find a job in a place like Moris City. The best she could do is arrange for her to work in her own company.
"It's okay, it's okay," to her, a job wasn't important. What mattered most was successfully marrying Dermot.
With the matter settled, Emily Morgans barely touched her food before rushing home to pack her things. Arianna Morgans also followed, saying she wanted to give some instructions, but no one knew exactly what she said.
After the two left, Joseph Morgans looked at Evelyn and felt a bit embarrassed. "Evelyn, I'm sorry for troubling you."
"Uncle, please don't say that. Your kindness towards me…"
"Remembering everything in my heart, now that I have the chance to repay, I am so happy that I can't even express it." Although she didn't like Arianna Morgan and her daughter, Evelyn felt sincerely grateful for her uncle, Arianna's second husband, in her heart.
During the meal, Dermot didn't say a word, quietly eating, and no one knew what he was thinking.
At night, Evelyn lay on the bed, in a familiar room, but she couldn't fall asleep no matter what.
She got out of bed, thinking of going outside for a walk.
Just as she stepped out of the room, she saw a tall figure standing in the yard, and she couldn't help but ask uncertainly, "Dermot?"
The man turned around, looking at her and replied, "Still not sleeping?"
"Yeah, I can't sleep." She walked over and stood beside the man. "Why haven't you slept either?"
"I'm thinking about something," Dermot answered, his gaze falling on Evelyn's face.
