Chapter 421 You Really Dare to Come in
Lassie felt a bit embarrassed. She could sense Evelyn's hostility towards her, but she understood. After all, she was still Dermot's girlfriend, at least in name.
"I just came to see you," Lassie laughed awkwardly as she spoke. She didn't know why she ended up here; it just didn't feel quite right.
Evelyn couldn't help but be dumbfounded and thought, "Is this woman a bit crazy?"
She walked over and opened the door, then turned back to look at Lassie and said, "Come in and let's talk."
Although she didn't have a good impression of this woman, she hadn't done anything wrong. Moreover, it wasn't appropriate to have a conversation standing at the doorway.
Lassie didn't refuse and followed Evelyn into the house.
Seeing that she actually came in, Evelyn couldn't help but laugh and threatened jokingly, "You really dare to come in. Aren't you afraid I'll harm you?"
"Huh?" Lassie was stunned. She really hadn't thought about it in that way.
Both she and Evelyn were girls, and girls didn't seem to pose a threat to each other, did they?
Seeing her confused look, Evelyn also didn't know what Dermot liked about her. Could it really be because of her identity?
Thinking about it like this, Evelyn felt that the Lassie in front of her was a bit pitiful.
She walked over and poured her a glass of water, saying, "Have a seat."
Lassie took the water, walked over to the sofa, and sat down. However, she didn't dare to drink from the glass Evelyn had poured for her.
Seeing this, Evelyn didn't insist. Now she was being cautious about herself. It seemed a bit too late.
"Now we can talk, so what's the matter with you coming to find me? Because of Dermot?" Could it be that Dermot was not treating her well?
Upon hearing this, Lassie didn't know how to answer. She could only say casually, "I just wanted to see what the person he likes looks like."
Evelyn was speechless. She thought to herself that Lassie had definitely misunderstood. The person Dermot truly liked wasn't her.
"You are his girlfriend now, why bother looking at someone else?" Evelyn said.
Lassie still smiled, seeming a bit embarrassed. "Being someone's girlfriend doesn't mean much, we could break up anytime."
Evelyn agreed with this. She and Dermot were just like that, once they said they were breaking up, they did.
"So, did you two have a fight?" Except for this reason, Evelyn couldn't think of any other.
Lassie thought for a moment and finally nodded, "Yeah."
"He wanted to break up, but I didn't want to, so we ended up fighting." Mainly because she didn't want to break up so early, at least let her have a few more peaceful days.
Break up?
Evelyn was surprised. It hadn't been long since these two got together, why would they break up already?
She felt a bit angry, thinking that Dermot didn't take relationships seriously at all.
Seeing Lassie's naive appearance, Evelyn suddenly saw her as a fellow victim of that jerk Dermot.
"Why does he want to break up?" Evelyn asked, not in a very good tone.
"Probably because of the person he likes," Lassie said and couldn't help but sneak a glance.
Evelyn wanted to see how Lassie would react. Little did she know that when she heard those words, there was not a hint of joy on her face. In fact, her expression became even more unpleasant than before.
Someone she liked? Ava?
At that moment, Evelyn felt an indescribable anger within her.
If Dermot had hurt her because of Ava, it would have been bad enough. But now he was going to hurt someone else too, and judging by Lassie's innocent appearance, she probably knew nothing about it.
"Are you... alright?" Lassie asked weakly, noticing that Evelyn didn't look well.
"I'm fine," Evelyn shook her head, trying to calm herself. "Since he wants to break up, why didn't you agree? It's a waste of time to be with such a jerk."
Thinking that Lassie was reluctant, Evelyn tried to persuade her again, "There are plenty of good men in this world. You don't have to care about just one of them. It's a complete waste of your time."
