Chapter 280 You're Hopeless
Listening to his words, Evelyn felt like laughing. She didn't know where Craig's confidence came from.
"Well, did Dermot tell you that I'm quite petty?" She smiled and locked eyes with Craig, saying coldly, "What if I insist on venting my anger? What can you do to me?"
Craig's expression darkened slightly, a hint of hostility appearing in his eyes. "You better not provoke me."
"Craig!"
Unable to bear it any longer, Ruby stepped forward to block them.
In front of Evelyn, "If you dare lay a hand on Evelyn, I will fight you to the death!"
"Get out of my way, it's none of your business!" Craig angrily replied.
Ruby didn't back down, looking ready to fight him.
But Evelyn reached out and pulled her aside, smiling as she said, "Don't worry, he can't do anything to me."
"Craig, don't forget, I still hold the Irvine family's dirty secrets in my hands," Evelyn looked at him, hoping he would give up.
But Craig just smirked, completely unfazed, "You're naive if you think those pieces of evidence you hold are still evidence. Otherwise, you can try."
There was no way he would let her have control over him forever. He had taken care of it a long time ago and had no fear of this woman.
Evelyn wasn't surprised by his response, "So that's it, no wonder you're so confident."
"So, I'll give you one more chance, tell me your conditions," he said to her.
Evelyn seemed to genuinely consider it, which made Ruby anxious, fearing that Evelyn might actually agree.
Just as the two were in a standoff, Dermot pushed the door open and immediately sensed the tension in the air.
After taking a quick look at both of them, he quickly understood why.
Walking towards Evelyn, he glared at Craig, "I'm warning you, be respectful to Evey."
Craig laughed, "Dermot, you're really choosing romance over friendship."
"Well, because I helped you last time, I almost ended up in a terrible situation. This time, I won't help you no matter what," he firmly stood on Evelyn's side.
Craig looked at the two of them, bemused, "Alright, I admit that Phoebe was in the wrong this time. I'll make her apologize to you and offer some compensation. She's young, she doesn't need to be sent to prison, right?"
With Dermot's help, he might not be able to save Phoebe, so he couldn't maintain his tough attitude like before.
Regardless, Phoebe was one of the few people in the Irvine family that he had a closer relationship with. If he couldn't protect her, who in the Irvine family would trust and obey him?
Dermot looked at Evelyn, waiting for her to speak.
But Evelyn couldn't swallow her pride. She turned to Phoebe and said, "I just don't understand, my brother doesn't like you, so why did you take it out on me? You even tried to take my life."
"If it weren't for you, how could Aidan not like me?" Phoebe said, looking hurt.
Evelyn scoffed, finding this idea ridiculous, "You're beyond help."
After saying that, she looked at Craig, "She's your sister, don't you think there's something seriously wrong with her? If I were you, I would let her spend some time in jail. Maybe she wouldn't be so brainless when she comes out."
After hearing Evelyn's words, Craig's expression softened.
Of course, he was not happy. After all, Phoebe was also a member of the Irvine family. Evelyn mentioned her, but was she not referring to the other members of the Irvine family? However, he resisted the urge to argue and instead looked at Phoebe. "I had no idea you had the guts to kill someone," he said.
