Chapter 1319: You Must Be Feeling Pretty Smug Right Now
After the wedding, Evelyn and Dermot waved off all the guests together, then their driver took them back home.
In the car, Dermot was so wiped out he leaned on Evelyn's shoulder, but he still had a grin plastered on his face. "Babe."
Dermot suddenly called out, and Evelyn was a bit caught off guard.
"Babe," Dermot said again, opening his eyes to look at Evelyn beside him. "I love you."
Evelyn wasn't really the mushy type. When Dermot told her he loved her, she didn't feel any butterflies; instead, she felt like she got goosebumps.
"You're drunk; get some rest," Evelyn said, letting Dermot continue to rest on her.
But Dermot didn't want to rest. He held Evelyn's hand. "How can we sleep tonight? It's our wedding night."
Evelyn was silent.
Evelyn teased, "It's not like it's our first day living together." They had been living together for a long time, and for her, apart from the wedding ceremony today, nothing else was different.
Dermot didn't care what she said and still insisted on his view.
The car soon took them to their new home, and Evelyn helped Dermot into the room.
As soon as they stepped into the bedroom, Dermot instantly picked up Evelyn. "Evelyn, it's late, we should rest."
Evelyn blushed and couldn't help but scold, "You're so cheeky."
"I'm your husband. If I were still shy in this situation, that would really be a problem." Saying this, Dermot already carried Evelyn to the bed.
Moonlight shone through the window onto the floor, casting their intertwined shadows, beautiful and enchanting.
The next day, Evelyn woke up early. They had arranged for some familiar old friends to come over and celebrate.
As she tried to get out of bed, a soreness spread through her body, particularly her thighs, rendering her unable to stand.
She cast an annoyed glance at Dermot lying beside her. It was entirely his fault for not knowing when to stop during their lovemaking.
"It's still early, sleep a bit more," Dermot said, pulling her into his arms.
"Stop it, Ruby and the others will be here soon," Evelyn pushed him away, not planning to continue sleeping.
Upon hearing her words, Dermot suddenly recalled that he had also invited Craig and the others over. They hadn't seen the new house yet, so today presented an excellent opportunity to show them around and celebrate.
So, although neither of them wanted to get up, they still forced themselves to.
Evelyn called the servants and the chef to start preparing lunch. Since there were many people coming, Evelyn and Dermot decided to have a barbecue so everyone could participate and it wouldn't be so boring.
Around eleven o'clock, it wasn't Ruby and the others who arrived first, but Henry.
He didn't stay with Dermot and the others yesterday but stayed at the wedding hotel. Although he was an elderly man, he didn't want to disturb the young couple's life.
"Grandpa," Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed seeing Henry walk in.
Henry cleared his throat, pretending not to notice Evelyn's embarrassment. "Where's Dermot? Why are you the only one busy here?"
"He's upstairs," Evelyn replied.
As they spoke, Dermot came downstairs and greeted Henry upon seeing him.
Shortly thereafter, Ruby and the rest showed up: Craig and Lydia, Sarah and Keith, along with a few other friends close to Dermot and Evelyn.
The villa quickly became lively, with everyone helping out, and soon they were ready to eat.
"Dermot, you must be feeling pretty smug right now, huh?" Keith teased as he approached Dermot.
After all, Dermot had finally married Evelyn, and Keith could easily imagine how elated he must be.
