Chapter 918 Here's a Suggestion
Evelyn laughed when she saw her like this. She thought the receptionist's reaction was ridiculous.
The receptionist wasn't worried about getting caught by the police while doing shady stuff, but afterward, she was super anxious. Didn't she ever think she might get caught one day?
"Don't worry. You're just going to testify," Evelyn told her, but her smile was gone.
To Evelyn, people who knew what Nolan was up to but stayed quiet or even covered for him were basically accomplices.
But Nolan was the main target, so as long as the receptionist testified honestly, Evelyn wouldn't hold her accountable.
The receptionist sighed in relief but was still a bit skeptical. "Really?"
"What else? Did you actually do something illegal?" Evelyn asked with a cold smile.
The receptionist quickly waved her hands. "No, I've never done anything illegal."
Evelyn said nothing more and walked out of the cafe, with Luke and the receptionist following behind.
Luke didn't rush back to the company but took Evelyn and the receptionist to the police station, planning to leave after everything was sorted.
Inside the police station, as soon as Evelyn walked in, she heard a sharp female voice, "Impossible! My husband isn't like that. It must be Sarah framing him. She has always resented me and my husband, so it's entirely possible she did this. Officer, you must find out the truth!"
Trinity spoke so pitifully that one might think she was the victim.
Evelyn let out a cold laugh, not bothering to hide it, and Trinity, not far away, naturally heard it.
"You should know better than anyone what kind of person Nolan is. Do you think saying a few words in his defense will get him off the hook?" Evelyn walked over and stood in front of Trinity.
Although she had never met Trinity and didn't know who she was, it wasn't hard to guess.
At this point, the only person who would still defend Nolan had to be his wife.
Trinity looked at Evelyn with some displeasure. "Who are you? What does this have to do with you?"
Evelyn ignored her and looked at the police officer across from her. "This is the receptionist from the cafe where the incident occurred. She can testify that Nolan attempted to assault Sarah."
"Really?" The officer looked at the receptionist, who felt a jolt of fear but remembered what Evelyn had said and nodded.
The receptionist was then taken away by the police, and Evelyn thought that this time, Nolan probably wouldn't escape.
Trinity couldn't understand how things had turned out this way; there was even a witness!
Trinity felt confused and a bit angry because it indicated that Nolan really did have intentions toward Sarah!
"You're Nolan's wife, right?" Evelyn asked.
"Who are you? Are you with Sarah?" Trinity asked, full of suspicion toward Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled and didn't deny it. Instead, she said, "Nolan's conviction is inevitable. If I were you, I'd think about how to maximize my own interests."
"What do you mean?" Trinity didn't understand and looked at Evelyn in confusion.
"You don't have any shares in Nolan's company. So, have you thought about what you'll get if he goes to prison?" Evelyn looked at her with a half-smile.
Trinity was stunned for a moment, and then broke out in a cold sweat.
She had been living off Nolan for years. If Nolan went to prison, the company would definitely be in trouble, and she wouldn't get any assets.
Trinity panicked.
"Here's a suggestion: find a way to get shares from Nolan. Once you have the shares, I can buy them at market price, ensuring you won't lose out." As for how this person would get the shares from Nolan, Evelyn didn't care. She believed the other party wouldn't sit idly by.
