Chapter 384 Plagiarism
Natalie was very proud. She had two store assistants standing on either side of her, each holding a dress. These two dresses were almost identical to the ones the wealthy lady had just bought.
The wealthy lady took out the dress she had just packaged and carefully compared it. Apart from a slight difference in color, they were practically identical. Her face immediately turned dark.
"What does this mean? Do you want me to wear clothes that are copied?" She threw the dress at Sarah's face and angrily shouted, "Sarah, what's the meaning of this?"
After all, she was a well-known figure in Moris City. If news of this clothes scandal got out, she would become a laughingstock.
Sarah took the dress, then looked at the two dresses Natalie was holding with a dark expression. "We can guarantee that we haven't copied anything."
"No copying?" Natalie chuckled and walked over to Evelyn. "My store has been open for a week. Could it be that I copied from you instead?"
Evelyn wasn't stupid. She knew Natalie was deliberately going against her. This so-called plagiarism was most likely a scheme Natalie came up with.
But... how did she get hold of Evelyna Fashion's design?
Evelyn felt it was necessary to figure out this question.
"I personally drew the design. I have the sketches. Do you?" Evelyn retorted.
Natalie didn't show any panic at her words. Instead, she smiled and reached out to her assistant behind her. "I do. What? Don't you have it?"
She handed the sketches to Evelyn. "Take a good look. Who's the original creator?"
Evelyn widened her eyes, looking at the sketches Natalie held in her hands, unable to believe it.
The sketches were exactly the same as hers. If it weren't for the different paper, Evelyn would even suspect that Natalie had stolen her sketches.
Sarah was also surprised. She leaned in next to Evelyn and whispered, "Evelyn... what's going on?"
"I don't know. I guess someone stole my sketches and gave them to them." Not only did that person steal her sketches, but they also knew what the final product would look like. Otherwise, based on just the sketches, the dresses wouldn't be this similar.
In that instant, Evelyn seemed to think of something. Her gaze swept across the scene and finally landed on Emily not far away.
Feeling Evelyn's gaze, Emily couldn't help but shudder. Before Evelyn even had a chance to ask, she turned around and walked away.
She basically confessed!
Evelyn was infuriated. She had brought her to Moris City and allowed her to stay at her house, yet she not only showed no gratitude, but also took the opportunity to steal her sketches and give the finished products to Natalie?
She endured the anger in her heart.
In the face of the situation, Evelyn knew she had to address the immediate problem. "Don't you have any idea how your manuscript came about?" she asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about. The manuscript was obviously created by our designer," Natalie sneered, feeling that Evelyn couldn't prove her innocence.
After contemplating for a moment, Evelyn took out her phone and made a call. "Since that's the case, let's involve the police," she said.
She knew very well that if they didn't report this matter to the authorities, she wouldn't be able to prove her innocence. Even if she did, there would still be doubters. Reporting it to the police was the only option.
"You..." Natalie was caught off guard by Evelyn's actions and was momentarily stunned.
Evelyn called the police and then turned to the customers in the store. "Thank you all for coming today. However, as you can see, Evelyn Fashion has been falsely accused of plagiarism, and we need to prove our innocence. Therefore, we won't be able to continue operating today."
"But rest assured, once this matter is resolved, we will reopen for business, and we look forward to welcoming you again."
"Are you really innocent?" the lady who had purchased clothes frowned and asked.
Without hesitation, Evelyn nodded, but she added, "Thank you for your support. We will provide you with a refund. As for the accusation of plagiarism, please follow the updates from the police."
