Evelyn chuckled, reluctantly agreeing. Even though she didn't like Hubert, she wouldn't embarrass him in this setting.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Hubert left. Not long after, Natalie approached Evelyn.
"Evelyn, we need to talk," Natalie said, her tone unusually calm.
Evelyn smiled, showing some interest. "Sure, what's up?"
"Let's let bygones be bygones. We both have new lives now. I won't trouble you, and I hope you won't make things difficult for me," Natalie said.
Natalie had been troubled by worry ever since she noticed Hubert's evident politeness towards Evelyn just now.. She knew well that Hubert might change his opinion of her if he knew about the deep grudge between her and Evelyn.
She was with Hubert for ambitious reasons, and being his clandestine lover was definitely not in her intentions. Therefore, she had to ensure that Evelyn wouldn't stir up trouble.
Evelyn sneered. She couldn't understand why Natalie had the confidence and shame to say such things to her.
"What? Natalie, do you think you have the qualifications to talk to me like this now?" Even if she hadn't taken over the Kyte family, had Natalie ever won against her before?
She wondered where Natalie got the confidence to think she could trouble her.
Natalie's face darkened, and she gritted her teeth. "I know you're powerful now, but no matter how powerful someone is, they always fear being targeted, right?"
She added, "I managed to get close to Hubert with great difficulty. If you ruin my relationship with Hubert, I will retaliate against you."
Evelyn felt no fear, only anger at her threats.
She walked up to Natalie and, under her gaze, slapped her, leaving Natalie stunned.
Natalie exclaimed, "How dare you?"
"Natalie, do you even know where you are? On the Kyte family's turf, how dare you threaten me? Do you believe that even if I kill you today, no one, including Hubert, would say a word for you?"
Evelyn knew Hubert's character well. Although he liked to play with women, he wouldn't lose his mind over a mistress.
Natalie covered her face, filled with immense anger, but she knew Evelyn was right. In front of Evelyn, she was like an ant. No matter how unwilling she was, there was nothing she could do.
"Feeling better? Consider this slap as repayment for my past actions, okay?" Natalie was furious but couldn't show it. She even had to try to make Evelyn let go of the past grudge.

Evelyn said while rubbing her slightly sore palm, "This slap was on behalf of Emerald. Nathan ended up in that situation mainly because of you. And what was your response? Not only did you show no guilt, but you also involved Emerald. Nathan used to risk his life working for you. Did you not realize he was simply trying to earn money for his sister's medical treatment? Did you ever think about the consequences for Emerald when you involved her? Will you only be satisfied once Nathan and Emerald are dead?"
Previously, Evelyn knew that Emerald came to her with a reason. She knew someone must have said something to her.
She had suspected Natalie of being the schemer at that time. However, she dismissed the notion when she realized she had neither seen nor heard any news of Natalie being in Golombia.
But now, she was almost certain that Emerald's appearance was because of Natalie.
