Chapter 993: Stop Testing Me Here
Lisa felt awkward realizing she misunderstood Geoffrey. "How was I supposed to know what you were thinking? You did like her once."
Geoffrey saw Lisa was just embarrassed now, not angry.
"My bad for not handling it well. I promise it won't happen again," Geoffrey reassured her.
Lisa felt better. "So, next time she's sick, you won't help?"
Geoffrey hesitated. "I'll call other colleagues to help her."
He knew if he said he wouldn't help, Lisa would think he was heartless.
Lisa wasn't mad at his response. "That's fine."
"Lisa, you're not mad anymore?" Geoffrey asked, still anxious.
Lisa nodded. "I'll trust you this time. But if I catch you lying, you know the consequences."
Geoffrey quickly shook his head. "Don't worry; that won't happen."
He didn't dare lie to Lisa; he wanted to stay on her good side.
Lisa headed to the elevator. Geoffrey followed. "Where are you going?"
"Going downstairs to check on Evelyn," Lisa said. "She's a colleague, so I should check on her."
Lisa didn't dislike Evelyn; she just didn't want her boyfriend too close to other women.
Feeling guilty for misunderstanding Evelyn, she decided to see if she could help.
Geoffrey's eyes lit up. "Lisa, you're so kind."
Lisa pouted. She didn't think she was kind; if she found out Geoffrey was in contact with Evelyn, she'd be furious.
They took the elevator to Internal Medicine but didn't find Evelyn. Everyone said she hadn't been there, which puzzled them.
They had seen Evelyn take the elevator down; she couldn't have just disappeared.
Geoffrey wanted to suggest looking for Evelyn but hesitated. "Lisa, what do you think is going on?"
"Don't test me. I know you want to find her," Lisa said, noticing Geoffrey's worried expression.
She found it strange too, so she didn't hold it against him.
Feeling awkward, Geoffrey stayed quiet, realizing talking more would confuse things.
He decided to drop it, but Lisa didn't. "Ask Howard downstairs. If Evelyn left, Howard would know."
Howard, the security guard, knew everyone in the hospital. If Evelyn left, he'd have seen her.
"Okay." Geoffrey felt relieved Lisa was also concerned.
They needed to confirm Evelyn's whereabouts.
