Chapter 783 Find a Way to Escape
Half an hour later, the car stopped at the intersection of the Interstate and State Route.
"The police said that the traffic surveillance ends here. If we want to continue the investigation, we'll have to check for any private surveillance along the way," Edward said as he walked alongside Evelyn.
Evelyn looked around and noticed that there really wasn't much surveillance on the State Route. Since those mercenaries intended to avoid surveillance, they wouldn't make it easy to be discovered.
After a moment, she instructed, "Have people search along the road. Copy any surveillance footage from places that have cameras."
"All of it?" Edward asked, somewhat uncertain.
"All of it," Evelyn said as she nodded.
Although Edward was puzzled, he followed Evelyn's instructions. After all, with Blake in trouble, she was now the one calling the shots for the Kyte family.
After Edward left, Evelyn drove slowly along the road, pondering where those people would take Blake and Wade and if they would be held in the same place.
While she was still searching, news had already spread online.
The news of their kidnapping simultaneously shocked everyone.
It was still early morning, but if they weren't found by daylight, the stocks of the Kyte Group and the Allen Group would surely plummet.
The Allen family had also sent people to search, but there were no leads. Those people were likely well-prepared this time. Since having failed once with Evelyn, they wouldn't allow a second failure.
Moreover, the other families among the top ten were also on edge. They didn't know who had kidnapped Blake and Wade or if those people would target other families.
In a small town of Bordervale, which was next to Golombia, it was already late at night, and the streets were empty.
Several cars quietly drove into the county without much attention.
A few minutes later, the cars entered a lumber mill. Someone got out first to check the surroundings. After confirming there was nothing unusual, they signaled the others to get out.
Soon, two people with hoods were brought out of the cars. If Evelyn were there, she would immediately recognize them as the kidnapped Blake and Wade.
The two were pushed into the lumber mill and locked in an abandoned house before their hoods were removed.
"Mr. Kyte," Wade looked at the person beside him, feeling somewhat worried.
Blake shook his head at him. "I'm fine. We need to find a way to escape."
They couldn't remain under these people's control. It was detrimental to them as well as Evelyn. They still didn't know these people's intention.
Was it their lives?
If it were just their lives, there was no need to bring them here. They could have killed them during the kidnapping.
Wade glanced around. Although the room had doors and windows, it was clear that even if they got out, they would still be within the lumber mill, under the watchful eyes of their captors.
After a moment, Wade calmed down and said, "Mr. Kyte, don't worry. Since these people don't want us dead, it means they have other demands. As long as they have demands, we can negotiate."
What he feared was that these people had no demands. If they were solely intent on killing them, it would be much harder to deal with.
Blake said, "That's true, but I'm afraid they might use you to get to Evelyn." If they threatened Evelyn with your life, she would likely compromise.
At the thought of that, he would rather these people target him instead.
