Chapter 693: Why Should I Stop You?

Chapter 693: Why Should I Stop You?

Evelyn pressed her lips together and finally said to Ruby, "It wasn't me who saved you. By the time I arrived, you were already safe."

"What?" Ruby was puzzled. If it wasn't Evelyn, then who could it be?

It was Craig. By the time I arrived, he had already handled that malicious individual," Evelyn admitted, despite her dislike for Craig.

As for Ruby's choice, she wouldn't interfere, but she wouldn't allow Craig to trap Ruby.

Evelyn wanted Ruby to have the right to choose, unlike before when Craig gave Ruby no choice at all.

Hearing that it was Craig who saved her, Ruby felt complicated but quickly smiled and said, "Who cares about his rescue."

"Surely he wouldn't resort to using my rescue as leverage against you, right?" Ruby didn't want to think poorly of Craig, but recent events had left a negative impression of him in her mind.

Evelyn shook her head, "No, he didn't say anything."

At least in this regard, Craig wasn't that despicable.

Ruby nodded and stopped thinking about Craig. "The banquet should be over by now. Shall we head back?"

"Alright."

With that, they both rose from their seats and exited the room, making their way downstairs to fetch a car to return home.

After ensuring Ruby's safe arrival at her residence, Evelyn hastened back to the Kyte family.

As she walked into the living room, she noticed some mess on the floor, with packed items scattered around.

"What's going on?" Evelyn asked a nearby servant.

"It seems like Lucia is moving out," the servant replied.

Just as the servant finished speaking, voices, more accurately, arguments, could be heard from upstairs.

Evelyn went upstairs to Lucia's room, where she saw Lucia packing her clothes, with Dora and Blake also present.

"Dad," Evelyn called out, drawing everyone's attention.

Spotting her, Blake gestured for her to come over. "Please help me convince Lucia. She's determined to move in with Wade. They've only just gotten engaged; how can she move in so quickly?""

If outsiders knew it, what would they think of Lucia?

Evelyn was taken aback by this and turned to Lucia. Before she could respond, Lucia interjected, "I won't listen to you. Wade invited me to move in, indicating his desire to grow closer to me. Isn't that positive?""

Lucia could already guess that nothing good would come out of Evelyn's mouth.

Lucia didn't even want to hear such words.

Surprisingly, Evelyn didn't try to dissuade Lucia but instead said to Blake, "Dad, since Lucia has made her decision, let her be. What's the point of persuading her?"

"Evey..."

"You should understand one thing: people must learn to bear the consequences of their actions. You can help her once today, but can you help her for a lifetime?" Evelyn interrupted Blake indifferently.

She had no intention of stopping Lucia. Wade's abrupt invitation couldn't be a good thing.

Seeing Lucia in trouble brought her immense satisfaction, and she saw no reason to intervene.

Blake sighed, glanced at Evelyn, then at Lucia, shook his head in resignation, and exited the room.

Maybe Evelyn was correct. He couldn't assist Lucia indefinitely.

Whatever awaited Lucia after moving in, she would have to bear it herself.

After Blake left, Lucia hesitated and looked at Evelyn. "You're not stopping me from moving in with Wade?"

"Why should I stop you? You're already engaged. There's nothing wrong with wanting to live together."

Evelyn smiled, thinking that there would be nothing wrong if they were an ordinary engaged couple.

However, Lucia and Wade were far from ordinary.
