Chapter 1068: What Kind of Person Is Aidan
"Even if she likes Aidan, it doesn't mean the kid is his, right? If it were, why wouldn't he acknowledge it?" Evelyn still couldn't believe it. She didn't think Aidan was that heartless.
Craig sneered, "Come on, you know what Aidan's like. He wouldn't marry someone he doesn't care about. If he knew Phoebe was pregnant, his first move would be to drag her to get an abortion."
Evelyn wanted to argue, but after thinking it over, she realized it was possible.
She bit her lip, momentarily speechless.
After a long pause, she asked, "What are you trying to achieve?"
Regardless of the truth, she needed to understand Craig's motive.
"It's simple: Aidan needs to marry Phoebe. It's his responsibility." He wasn't trying to make things hard for Aidan, but since Phoebe was determined to have the baby, the least he could do was ensure the child had a father.
Evelyn frowned. This wasn't something she could decide for Aidan. "I'll look into it."
"Go ahead, but if it's true, you'd better convince Aidan to marry Phoebe. Otherwise, don't expect me to be nice about it." If Aidan knew Phoebe was pregnant and still refused to marry her, Craig wouldn't let it slide.
Evelyn didn't continue the conversation. Her mind was too chaotic.
She returned to the hospital, skipped lunch, and went back to her office to have someone investigate the matter between Aidan and Phoebe. Suddenly, she remembered Joshua mentioning Aidan had some incidents while abroad. At the time, Aidan claimed he was injured by an enemy, but in hindsight, their expressions seemed off.
She was eager to find out what really happened, but with patients to see in the afternoon, she had to wait until after work to rush to Joshua's villa.
At Joshua's villa, he was surprised to see Evelyn so early. "Evelyn, what brings you here this early?"
"Joshua, I need to ask you something," Evelyn said as she walked toward him.
Noticing her troubled expression, Joshua's heart skipped a beat. Had she found out something?
Just as he was worrying, he heard Evelyn ask, "Did something happen between Aidan and Phoebe when they were abroad?"
Joshua breathed a sigh of relief. So it was about Aidan.
"Aidan already explained it to you, didn't he?" Joshua didn't answer directly, as Aidan didn't want Evelyn to know.
"I know he's lying, Joshua. Please tell me the truth. It's very important to me," Evelyn said.
Joshua looked at her and decided not to hide it any longer. He told her the truth.
It turned out that after Phoebe went abroad, she kept pestering Aidan, but he was never interested and always treated her coldly. Later, at a party, Aidan got drunk, which gave Phoebe an opportunity. They ended up sleeping together.
The next day, it made headlines abroad, but there was no buzz back home.
After hearing this, Evelyn's face darkened.
She couldn't believe such a thing had happened, and she hadn't heard a word about it.
"Evelyn, why are you bringing this up now? Did something happen?" Joshua asked, unable to hide his curiosity. Evelyn wouldn't bring this up out of the blue unless something had changed.
