Chapter 1207: Who Do You Think You Are, Lecturing me
Cassie felt a shiver run down her spine, even though Dermot's voice was as flat as a pancake.
"Look, things were super messy back then. I don't have all the deets. You should ask my brother to fill you in," Cassie said. Truth was, Leonard had already spilled the beans, but she didn't have the guts to tell Dermot.
Dermot leaned back on the couch and let out a dry laugh, "No need. He's the big boss at Bush Group now; he doesn't owe me any explanations."
"Dermot..."
"Cut it out. We're not exactly besties, Ms. Bush," Dermot said, crossing his arms and clearly done with the convo.
He'd rather be chilling with Evelyn than wasting time with Cassie.
Cassie's face went white as a sheet. She bit her lip, her eyes getting all watery. "Dermot, don't be like this. I'm still Cassie."
"Cassie Ackers and Cassie Bush are two different people." Cassie Ackers was once a sad little orphan Leonard had dumped on him. No matter what, Dermot still saw her as a sister.
But Cassie Bush? She was a whole different story. She was the Bush family's princess, someone Dermot didn't know from Adam.
"Dermot, it doesn't change anything for me. You'll always be my closest person," Cassie said.
Dermot just sneered and stayed silent.
"Dermot, I don't want you to get the wrong idea. If that's the case, I'd rather not have gone back to the Bush family," Cassie said, looking all pitiful. Back in the day, Dermot might've felt bad for her.
But now, seeing the sad Cassie in front of him, he felt nada.
Cassie didn't get the sympathy she was fishing for and felt like crap. "Dermot, I'm here today on behalf of the Bush family to talk about a collab with you."
Cassie could tell Dermot was cold towards her, but she wasn't in a hurry to fix things. She had plenty of chances to get close to him later. She wasn't the broke Cassie from before.
Dermot remembered they did have a deal with the Bush Group. So when their people showed up today, he didn't think twice and had his team bring them in, not expecting it to be Cassie.
"I don't think we need to work with the Bush Group anymore." After hearing about the Bush Group's current mess, Dermot had no plans to team up with them.
Cassie's face went even paler. She couldn't believe it, saying, "Dermot, I know you have issues with Leonard and me. But I thought you wouldn't let personal stuff mess with business. This deal is between Doyle Group and Bush Group, and it's a win-win if we keep it professional."
"Who do you think you are, telling me how to do business?" Dermot sneered. He didn't need a lecture from her.
Cassie shook her head, feeling a bit hurt. "Dermot, I just don't want our issues to mess up the deal between Doyle Group and Bush Group. It's important for both companies."
"I used to think so too, but now, I'm not so sure about the Bush family anymore. So I'm not sure it's a good idea to keep working together." Even though the deal was important to Doyle Group, it wasn't a must-have.
Cassie looked down. "Dermot, why are you being like this? We used to be close."
"Close?" Dermot couldn't help but laugh, "Ms. Bush, watch your words. I've never had any ties with the Bush family, so where's the closeness?"
Cassie mumbled, "Dermot."
"Please leave Doyle Group. And don't forget to tell Leonard I need an explanation for what went down back then." Dermot seriously thought he got played back then. Otherwise, how could Leonard, who was supposed to be dead, just pop back up?
