Chapter 1344 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (19)
The next day, the baby shower went down as planned.
At one of the swankiest hotels in Golombia, a ton of guests showed up. Aidan had his usual crew there, plus all the business clients tied to his group.
But it wasn’t just them.
Everyone knew Aidan was Evelyn's brother in Golombia. Now that Evelyn was hitched to Dermot, they had some serious clout. Since the Kyte family and the Doyle family joined forces, the so-called top ten families of Golombia were old news. The Kyte and Doyle families were now the big dogs.
So, even folks who had no personal beef with Aidan and even looked down on the Brooks Group showed up out of respect for Evelyn and Dermot. Those who couldn’t make it sent gifts.
Evelyn got there early. Even though she was now part of the Doyle family, Aidan was still her bro, so she wanted to help out.
When she arrived, Phoebe and Aidan were already at the door, greeting guests.
But they weren’t standing together; they were on opposite sides, acting all distant.
Evelyn sensed something was off and walked over. "Hey, Aidan, Phoebe."
"Evelyn, you're here! Come in and chill," Phoebe greeted her with a smile. She considered Evelyn a friend now, so she was stoked to see her.
"No rush, I'll check on Theodore first." Evelyn walked over to where Theodore was in a stroller, already snoozing.
Looking at Theodore's little face, Evelyn couldn’t help but touch him, feeling amazed. "So cute, he looks just like Aidan."
"Really? I think so too," Aidan said, smiling at Theodore in the stroller.
"Aidan, congrats on your beautiful baby!" Evelyn exclaimed.
Aidan smiled. Theodore's arrival had flipped his world upside down.
"You and Dermot should hurry up and have a baby too," Aidan teased.
Evelyn shot Aidan a look, but before she could respond, Dermot chimed in, "I have no objections; it's up to Evelyn."
Evelyn glared at him. Lately, Dermot had been thinking about having a baby, maybe feeling a bit jealous.
Though babies are adorable, Evelyn still wanted to wait a couple of years.
"Aidan, you and Phoebe should stand together to greet the guests," Evelyn said, looking at Dermot and Aidan, pulling Phoebe over to stand next to Aidan.
Phoebe felt awkward and explained, "It's not his fault; I chose to stand over there."
She just didn’t want to stand with Aidan to avoid any misunderstandings about their relationship.
Evelyn was puzzled. Hadn’t she just convinced Phoebe to take the initiative a few days ago?
Phoebe pursed her lips and said lightly, "Even though we have Theodore, we don’t really have any relationship, so it’s better to keep some distance to avoid misunderstandings."
Evelyn didn’t know what had gone down between Aidan and Phoebe, but from her words, it was clear Phoebe was upset.
Most likely, Aidan had done something to tick her off.
Evelyn looked at Aidan, who was also puzzled and shrugged helplessly.
Whatever, Aidan didn’t really care about these things anyway.
"Phoebe, regardless of what happened before, it’s better for you two to stand together on a day like today," Evelyn whispered in her ear. "You don’t want to be a laughingstock, do you?"
