Chapter 930: Do As I Say

There were no cameras at the corner, so Evelyn had no clue where Ruby went. She quickly got up and headed to the spot where Ruby vanished, hoping to find something.

But when she got there, nothing. No hiding spots, no signs of a struggle—Ruby had just disappeared.

Evelyn's face darkened. She reviewed the footage again and again, finally zeroing in on a van that had left the corner.

When Ruby reached the corner, the van was parked there. Shortly after Ruby walked into the corner, the van drove off, and no one else had come or gone since.

Evelyn sent the van's license plate to Jennifer, who quickly found out it had been reported stolen long ago. Dead end.

But Evelyn wasn't giving up. She focused back on the footage, determined to track down that van.

Just as she was about to dive in, her phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

Without hesitation, Evelyn hung up. She wasn't in the mood for sales calls.

But the phone rang again immediately, like the caller wouldn't stop until she answered. She had no choice but to pick up.

Before she could say anything, a voice on the other end said, "Ms. Kyte, looking for your friend?"

The voice was old and somewhat familiar, but Evelyn couldn't place it.

"Did you take Ruby?" Evelyn asked coldly, her face stern.

The caller didn't confirm or deny, just said, "I've sent you an address. Come over, Ms. Evelyn."

Evelyn chuckled. "If you want me, why the elaborate setup? Why not just come straight to me?"

Kidnapping Ruby to get to her—was that really necessary?

"Ms. Kyte, there are too many people around you. We're just being cautious." They could grab Evelyn, but it would cause a scene, which they wanted to avoid.

Using Ruby to control Evelyn was much easier.

Evelyn's face darkened more, clearly displeased. "Where's Ruby? If you hurt her, I won't let you off."

"Don't worry; your friend is fine. But come quickly. I can't guarantee what might happen otherwise," the caller said.

With that, the caller hung up, not bothering to warn Evelyn against telling others. They knew she was smart enough to understand. As long as Ruby was in their hands, Evelyn wouldn't take any risks.

Evelyn looked at her phone. There was an address. Without wasting time, she hailed a cab and headed there.

Even though she knew it was a trap, she had to go.

In the cab, Evelyn kept thinking about who the caller could be. Who in this city would go to such lengths to mess with her?

Could it be Margaret?

But the voice was so familiar. She must have heard it somewhere before.

Evelyn thought, 'Where have I heard that before?'

Just then, Craig called. Clearly, he hadn't found any trace of Ruby and was extremely anxious.

Evelyn thought for a moment and answered, "Craig, if you don't want Ruby to get hurt, do exactly as I say."
