Chapter 1062-1063: Pregnancy Should Be Handled by an OB-GYN

Dermot thought if he stayed out of his study, Evelyn wouldn't know he was home. What he didn't realize was she could see his bedroom light from her room at night.

Without hesitation, Evelyn called him.

"Evelyn, what's up?" Dermot was surprised but tried to stay calm.

“Dermot, where are you?” Evelyn asked, clearly frustrated.

Dermot worried, 'Did she go back to the hospital?' Probably not, since Joshua had called her to his villa.

Trying to stay cool, he said, "What's wrong? Are you at the hospital?"

"No, I'm at Joshua's villa," Evelyn replied.

Dermot relaxed. If she was at Joshua's, she probably didn't know he was discharged.

"I'm at the hospital. Are you coming to visit?" Dermot lied smoothly.

Evelyn sneered, "Really? You didn't sneak out?"

"Of course not. I promised to take my health seriously," Dermot said confidently. If she hadn't seen his bedroom light, she might've believed him.

Evelyn couldn't hold back her anger. "Dermot, do you think I'm stupid? Why is your bedroom light on?"

Dermot was speechless. Was it too late to turn off the light?

“Dermot! You say one thing and do another. Who do you think you're fooling?” Evelyn snapped.

Even without seeing her, Dermot could feel her anger. "Evelyn, I just can't stand being at the hospital without you."

She wasn't buying it. "So before you met me, you never went to the hospital?"

"Yeah," Dermot nodded.

“Dermot!” Evelyn yelled.

"It's true. I used to have a family doctor," he explained. He rarely went to the hospital because his family doctor handled most things.

Evelyn sarcastically said, "So, should I get you a family doctor now?"

"No need. You taking care of me is enough," Dermot thought he'd recover quickly with her around.

Evelyn was exasperated. "Dermot, I'm not joking. If you don't take your health seriously, I can't help you."

Dermot said, "Evelyn."

"Fine, call it meddling. Do whatever you want," Evelyn sighed, feeling helpless.

Dermot started to panic. He could tell she was genuinely upset. "I'm sorry, Evelyn. I didn't mean to lie."

"Whatever," Evelyn said, wanting to end the conversation.

"I'll go back to the hospital now," Dermot said reluctantly. He didn't want to upset her more.

Evelyn saw his bedroom light go out, indicating he was really planning to go back. She was surprised. "Are you feeling okay right now?" she asked.

"No, I feel fine," Dermot replied.

"Did you get your medication?" she asked again.

"Yes," Dermot replied.

After a pause, Evelyn said, "Alright, just rest at home for a few days. Stick to a routine and eat properly, okay?"

"Got it," Dermot replied, sounding like a dutiful student, not daring to object.

Evelyn couldn't do much about him. After a few more reminders, she hung up.

Dermot put away his phone, knowing there was no point in hiding since Evelyn already knew. He headed to the study, turned on the light, and got back to work.

His phone buzzed with a message from Evelyn: [Get some rest early!]

Dermot glanced out the window and saw Evelyn watching him. Feeling a bit helpless, he left the study and actually went to bed, deciding not to work anymore.

Despite Evelyn's watchful eye, Dermot didn't feel any resentment. In fact, he felt a bit of secret joy. She still cared about him; otherwise, why would she go to such lengths?

With that thought, Dermot quickly fell asleep and even had a sweet dream.

The next day, Evelyn went to work as usual. Before leaving, she called Dermot to check on his health. Hearing he was fine, she felt relieved.

Maybe it was because he was still young that he could bounce back with just some medicine. But youth didn't last forever, so she reminded him again to take better care of himself.

Today, Evelyn was at the clinic, waiting in her consultation room for patients.

She was surprised to see her first patient was someone she knew. She looked at Phoebe and noticed her growing belly. "Phoebe, you're expecting?"

"Yes," Phoebe nodded, looking a bit guilty.

Evelyn frowned. "If you're pregnant, you should be seeing an OB-GYN. This is neurosurgery."

"No, I have a headache," Phoebe quickly explained. She didn't want to see a doctor today, especially not Evelyn. If she had known Evelyn was on duty, she would have picked another day.

Realizing Phoebe wasn't joking, Evelyn asked seriously, "When did your symptoms start?"

"Since I got pregnant, but it wasn't too bad before. Now it's getting worse," Phoebe said, holding her head. It was clear she was in pain.

This made Evelyn uneasy.

Headaches could be serious if properly diagnosed, but sometimes they were just minor issues or even just a feeling without any major concerns.

Evelyn was about to start the examination but then glanced at Phoebe's belly. "A brain CT scan would be best, but since you're pregnant, it could affect the baby."

Phoebe looked concerned. "What kind of impact?"

"It's hard to say. Most of the time, there's no effect, but there's always a risk. You'll have to decide," Evelyn explained, knowing she couldn't make the decision for her due to the radiation involved.

Phoebe hesitated but ultimately shook her head. "Then let's not do it. Can you prescribe some painkillers that are safe for the baby? I'd like to wait until after the baby is born to have the examination."

"You should really consider this carefully. If the headaches are severe, it could be something serious," Evelyn advised, concerned. In her opinion, while the baby was important, Phoebe's health was paramount.

Phoebe smiled and nodded. "I've thought it through. I believe it's just because I haven't been resting well since getting pregnant and have been worrying too much."

Since getting pregnant, she hadn't had a single good night's sleep. She was torn between the fear of being discovered and the desire for someone to notice, leaving her conflicted and often sleepless.
