Chapter 423 Do You Agree?
At the Doyle Group, Dermot was busy when Lassie arrived. He furrowed his brows, "What are you here for?"
They were on the verge of breaking up, and Dermot didn't want the press to capture them together, avoiding unnecessary speculation.
Lassie felt awkward. She didn't want to come either, but considering Evelyn's attitude tonight, she felt like she should let him know.
"Are you busy?" she spoke up, approaching Dermot.
"Is there some reason you’re here?" he asked again, clearly not interested in small talk with her.
He had always seen their relationship as strictly business, so he didn't need to be polite to her. Lassie understood this too, so she didn't get angry and continued to smile at Dermot.
“After breaking up with me, are you planning to reconcile with Evelyn?”
As soon as those words were spoken, Dermot's expression changed drastically. He looked up, meeting her gaze with a coldness in his eyes. "Are you investigating me?"
"Well..." Lassie laughed awkwardly. "Do I even need to investigate? Everyone knows about the breakup between you and Evelyn, it’s not a secret."
"What does that have to do with you? If you've made up your mind, we can announce the breakup tomorrow." Dermot didn't want to wait a moment longer, except for the three days he promised her.
"Well, it's not impossible." In the end, Lassie thought it was better to break up sooner rather than later. It has been several days now, and Dermot was delayed0. Dermot was surprised.
"You agreed?" he asked.
"What's there not to agree with? Initially, I was thinking of waiting a few more days to inform my parents, but now I realize it doesn't make much difference. We were bound to break up sooner or later; we would have to face my parents eventually.”
Upon hearing her words, Dermot's expression brightened a little. "Alright then, let's announce it tomorrow. Why did you suddenly change your mind?"
He had already agreed to wait three more days, but now Lassie was agreeing to announce it tomorrow instead. It felt a bit strange to him. Lassie bit her lip, unsure if she should say it or not. Dermot's gaze fell upon her, and he could naturally sense her dilemma.
"What's the reason?" His voice became sharp, and there was a hint of something unpleasant.
"Well... before coming to find you, I met Evelyn," she said, immediately lowering her head, unable to meet Dermot's eyes.
Sure enough, the next moment, Dermot stood up and angrily walked towards her. "You went to see her? Why did you go see her? What did you tell her?"
"Don't misunderstand, I just told her about our breakup and let her know that you and I were together out of necessity," Lassie hurriedly explained.
"So, you told her about my father's situation?" Dermot's face turned cold, his voice piercing and unsettling.
Lassie nodded, not quite understanding. “Is... that not allowed?"
She felt that both Evelyn and Dermot had reacted strangely to the matter concerning his father.
"This is my business. Who gave you permission to speak about it without consulting me?" Dermot could imagine how angry Evelyn would be at this moment. His father hadn't told her about his return, so in Evelyn's mind, he was likely full of lies.
His head started to ache. He already had so many misunderstandings with Evelyn, because of Ava's situation, and now with Benjamin's matter added on, how could he possibly explain it all?
He had initially thought that after resolving Benjamin, he wouldn't need to tell her about that, but now... It was going to be difficult not to mention it.
