Chapter 637 Discover It For Yourself

"Is there a problem?" Evelyn asked, her tone direct and devoid of any inclination to indulge in his games. The Doyle family, she mused, had a knack for misunderstanding situations. Her encounter with Dermot had been immediately followed by a summons from Grandpa Doyle, and now, an innocent-looking young man had materialized, his intentions unclear.

Jeffery Doyle squirmed uncomfortably under her scrutiny. Was such forthrightness acceptable? He wondered. As he remained silent, Evelyn made a move to open the car door, evidently intending to ignore him. However, Jeffery was not one to back down so easily. He halted her once more, his voice pleading, "I merely seek a ride, nothing more."

"Does the Doyle family lack a chauffeur? Or perhaps," she sneered, "you're suggesting that the Doyles can't even afford a car?" Evelyn found the young man's naivety amusing.

Caught off guard by her blunt retort, Jeffery blushed in embarrassment. "Owning a car doesn't negate the possibility of hitching a ride. You seem like a good judge of character. What's wrong with sharing a ride?"

Evelyn merely stared at him, her silence eloquent. After a few moments, Jeffery found himself at a loss for words. Finally, he conceded, "Alright, I confess. I'm merely curious about your relationship with Dermot."

Evelyn laughed, her suspicions confirmed. This man was indeed attempting to probe into her affairs with Dermot. "What relationship?" she countered, finding his naivety amusing.

"I'm genuinely curious," Jeffery admitted, his youthful face brimming with intrigue.

Evelyn's lips curled into a smirk. "I won't tell you. Discover it for yourself." With that, she swiftly entered her car, started the engine, and vanished from the entrance of the Doyle estate.

It was only after her car had completely disappeared from sight that Jeffery managed to react. "What the hell, she couldn't even say that?" He could have found out, but he didn't want to waste his time.

"Jeffery, your intentions are glaringly obvious. She's not blind. Why would she tell you?" Otis Doyle's voice echoed from behind him, laced with a hint of mockery.

Jeffery spun around, glaring at him. "If you're so capable, cousin, why didn't you try it yourself?"

"Try what? I couldn't care less about Dermot, let alone the woman associated with him," Otis sneered, confident that the headship of the Doyle family was his father's destiny. In his mind, the Doyle family would be his in a century.

Dermot, to him, was insignificant - an outsider. How influential could he possibly be? Jeffery, however, held a different perspective. "I believe Dermot is not as simple as he seems. You should be cautious, cousin, lest the outcome isn't what you desire." With that, he rose and departed, leaving Otis behind. Their rivalry was evident - their fathers might be the ones competing, but the competition extended to them as well.

As Jeffery departed, Otis's expression darkened. "Dermot? I'm eager to see just how capable you truly are."

Upon Evelyn's arrival at the Kyte family home, she found Wade Allen and Hubert Diaz already seated in the living room. She paused momentarily, recalling that her father had invited them over for dinner the previous day. The memory had almost slipped her mind due to Dermot's issue.

"Hello," she greeted, striving to maintain her composure. Wade nodded in acknowledgment. Despite Evelyn's efforts to conceal her discomfort, he sensed that something was amiss. "What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"Nothing," Evelyn dismissed, hoping to deter further inquiries. "Is it time for dinner?"

"We were just waiting for you," Blake interjected, tactfully refraining from asking about her whereabouts. He then ushered Wade and Hubert towards the dining room.
