Chapter 1361 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (36)
When Byron rolled back into Lowe Manor, Sienna was already chilling in the living room, and Kurt was glued to his phone nearby.
"You're back," Sienna said, giving Byron a quick look as he strolled in. "What did Aidan say?"
Kurt's ears perked up at Aidan's name, finally dragging his eyes off his phone to look at Byron. He had no clue Byron had gone to see Aidan.
Kurt thought, 'Do they really want Aidan back that bad? I grew up with them, but they still can't get over Aidan, even thinking of handing the Lowe family to him? Do they really think that little of me?'
He felt a wave of resentment, but he couldn't take it out on Sienna and Byron, so he aimed all his anger at Aidan.
"He said no," Byron said, plopping down into a chair with a heavy sigh.
Sienna's face twisted in annoyance. "He's so damn stubborn."
"Does he think his Brooks Group is all that? He doesn't know his place!" Sienna muttered, already scheming.
Since Aidan was so hung up on the Brooks Group, she'd go after it. When his precious group was gone, he wouldn't be so smug.
Byron saw where she was headed and couldn't help but worry. "Are you really gonna go after his group? That'll just make him hate us more."
"So what? Am I supposed to be scared of him?" Sienna sneered. "Let him see what the Lowe family is made of, so he stops thinking we're nothing."
In her mind, Aidan refused to come back because he hadn't seen the real power of the Lowe family. But that was fine. After this, she'd make sure he understood.
Byron didn't say anything more. He couldn't stop her, and part of him wanted to see what Aidan was made of. If Aidan couldn't handle this, then his talk of taking over the Lowe family's assets was just a joke.
"Mom, if Aidan doesn't want to come back, just let him be. Maybe he likes his freedom," Kurt said, not wanting Aidan to return. If he did, there'd be no room for Kurt in the Lowe family.
Sienna's anger flared. "If you were more capable, would I need to beg him to come back?"
Kurt went silent. He didn't get how he wasn't capable. He'd worked hard, and with so many people in the group, he thought he could just delegate stuff. No big deal.
But he didn't dare say that out loud, afraid of making Sienna even angrier. He just hung his head and kept quiet.
Seeing him like that, Sienna got even more pissed. She couldn't believe someone as strong as her had given birth to such a useless kid. She slammed the table and stormed out.
After she left, Byron turned to Kurt. "Don't take it too hard. Your mom's just having a tough time dealing with this."
All these years, no one had ever dared to defy her, so Sienna naturally couldn't handle it.
"I don't need your pity," Kurt snapped, giving him a dirty look. Even though Byron was his dad, he'd always looked down on him.
Byron sighed. "I'm your dad."
"I don't have a spineless dad," Kurt shot back. He couldn't understand why Sienna had married someone like Byron in the first place.
He thought, 'Wouldn't it have been better if Sienna had married into a family of equal status? Maybe the Lowe family would be even more powerful by now.'
