Chapter 1307: You Smell Really Good
In the next few days, Evelyn kept trying to hook Aidan up with girls for blind dates, but it was a total bust; Aidan didn't even bother showing up.
Eventually, Evelyn got the hint and threw in the towel.
With the wedding day creeping up and just a month to go, Evelyn had to shift her focus to the big day.
But honestly, there wasn't much left for her to do; Dermot had already handled most of it. She just had to try on the wedding dress and take care of some minor stuff, which was a breeze.
At the hospital, Evelyn went about her usual routine.
After her rounds, as she was getting ready to sort out the medical records, Virgil called her into his office.
"Mr. Newman, you wanted to see me?" Evelyn said, pushing the door open. Virgil immediately stood up to greet her.
"Dr. Kyte, please, have a seat." Virgil was super polite, which made Evelyn feel a bit weird.
But she shrugged it off, knowing why he was acting that way.
Once she sat down, Virgil got straight to the point. "Dr. Kyte, we've got an invite to attend a conference at an overseas hospital. The neurosurgery department picked you to represent us. What do you think?"
This was a golden opportunity for Evelyn to represent the neurosurgery department, learn some new stuff, and network.
"Mr. Newman, I'm getting married soon," she said. Even though she knew it was a great chance, her first instinct was to turn it down because of the wedding.
Virgil got it and quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, the conference is just a week. It won't mess with your wedding plans at all."
"When do we leave?" Evelyn asked.
"Tomorrow," Virgil replied.
Evelyn thought it over. Leaving tomorrow and coming back in a week wouldn't really mess up anything.
"Alright," Evelyn agreed.
Virgil smiled, happy with her answer.
Evelyn went back to her office and called Dermot to fill him in. Dermot was cool with it but a bit worried about her.
"I'm swamped right now, and I might not be able to find time to go with you." He was busy optimizing the company to free up time for their honeymoon later.
But not being able to go with Evelyn made him a bit uneasy.
Evelyn didn't think it was a big deal and told Dermot, "I'm not a kid; I don't need you to babysit me. I'm just letting you know, not asking you to come along."
"You're not a kid, but can't I spoil you like one?" Dermot said.
Evelyn was speechless and didn't respond.
Dermot could probably guess her expression at that moment and couldn't help but laugh, "Alright, we'll talk more when I get home tonight."
"Okay." They then hung up the phone.
Evelyn put away her phone and got back to work, and Dermot did the same. They both had their own stuff to handle.
In the evening, when Dermot got back to the villa, he found Evelyn in the kitchen.
"Evelyn, are you planning to cook for me?" Dermot couldn't believe it and felt a bit anxious.
He wasn't too confident in Evelyn's cooking skills.
Evelyn was chopping veggies. Hearing Dermot's voice, she turned and said, "I'm just prepping; you're the one cooking."
Evelyn wasn't just bad at cooking; she was a total disaster in the kitchen.
"Alright, whatever you say." Dermot walked into the kitchen and hugged Evelyn from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Evelyn, you smell so good." Dermot was reluctant to let go.
Evelyn's cheeks turned red. She turned around and hugged Dermot back. "Let's eat first."
Dermot whispered, "But I want to have sex with you first."
In the next second, Evelyn was lifted off the ground, and Dermot carried her straight to the bedroom.
