Chapter 699: I'll Take Care of It for You

Chapter 699: I Will Take Care of Them for You

If Lucia had mentioned this yesterday, Blake would have readily agreed, possibly considering her more reasonable.

However, at that moment, Blake tossed the newspaper in his hand to her without a word and resumed eating his breakfast.

Lucia was initially puzzled, but as she looked down at the newspaper, her eyes widened in disbelief. "These reporters are spouting nonsense."

The newspaper dedicated a significant portion to detailing Lucia's move to Wade's villa the previous night. Some speculated that their wedding was on the horizon, while others criticized her lack of decency. In any case, the coverage was unfavorable.

"Dad, I was too impulsive last night. I shouldn't have moved over so soon," Lucia admitted, lowering her head. Over the years, she had rarely admitted her mistakes.

Unfortunately, Blake remained unmoved.

Lucia was helpless. So she turned her pleading eyes to Dora beside her. But Dora knew Blake well, she realized that even if she spoke up for Lucia, it would likely have no effect.

As Lucia's mother, she felt compelled to gather her courage and address the situation. "It was only one night. Returning home shouldn't create much of a stir."

"Have you not seen the online chatter? The entire town is aware of it. How can you claim it won't have any repercussions?" Evelyn retorted. With Lucia having moved out, Evelyn was not inclined to allow her to return.

"Didn't you want to move over so badly before? How come you changed your mind after just one night? Have you suddenly stopped liking Wade?" Evelyn sneered with mockery.

Lucia's face turned ugly, and she bit her lip. "I think I should stay home to take care of my parents instead of rushing to leave."

"Oh? Now you remember to take care of parents? You didn't say that when you were leaving," Evelyn retorted, giving Lucia no face. Taking care of parents? Only Lucia could have the nerve to say such a thing.

Lucia shot her a fierce look, wishing she could tear her apart. "Evelyn, I understand you don't like me, but you can't prevent me from being dutiful to my parents."

Evelyn laughed mockingly. "Don't worry. I will take care of parents for you."

"Evelyn..."

"Enough!" Blake interrupted them in a cold tone. Lucia dared not speak again.

"Dad," Lucia looked pitifully at Blake, trying to soften his heart.

Unfortunately, at this moment, Lucia probably didn't realize that after her disgraceful actions, she no longer existed as a daughter in Blake's heart.

you well."

Blake waved his hand, signaling that he didn't want to hear any more. "Finish your breakfast and then return. If you've chosen to be a part of the Allen family, visit us less frequently. Otherwise, people might criticize us for not raising you properly."

"Dad," Lucia was on the verge of tears.

But Blake had already stood up and left. No matter how aggrieved she felt, he didn't spare her another glance.

After he left, Lucia's face immediately turned vicious. "Evelyn! Why do you always target me?"

"You're overthinking. I don't. Besides, isn't it you who is targeting me?" Evelyn replied.

"Did you say something to Wade to make him hate me?" Even now, Lucia tried to find reasons in others.

Lucia didn't believe she was at fault. While her approach may have been flawed, her love for Wade was unwavering.

She was convinced that if Wade could comprehend her actions, they could have a successful relationship.

However, as Wade remained unwilling to understand her, Lucia attributed it to Evelyn's interference. She often shifted blame onto others to ease her own conscience.
