Chapter 142 Evelyn Is Arrested

The conversation between the two hadn't finished when a group of people entered the suite, rather than just one person this time.

A police officer in uniform approached, "We received a report of a murder here."

Evelyn moved aside and pointed to Kenny's body on the bed, "When we came in, he was dead."

The officer ignored her and became serious contacting his colleagues as if they considered the two in the room as suspects.

Both Evelyn and Dermot were taken to the police station, awaiting further questioning.

At the same time, news of Kenny's death in the hotel spread throughout Moris City. Being Mr. Dermot's son, the Barns family naturally received attention.

pictures of Evelyn being taken to the police station were released, accompanied by information from people claiming that Kenny had tried to assault Evelyn, and she had fatally stabbed him in self-defense.

People were outraged, both condemning Kenny as a beast and condemning Evelyn as a murderer. Kenny was still a person, and if guilty, he should be handed over to the police for trial, rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Quickly, the internet was divided into two factions. Some thought that Kenny deserved to die for being a scoundrel, while others believed that his crimes didn't warrant death and demanded that Evelyn pay the appropriate price.

Evelyn knew nothing about these discussions.

she was undergoing questioning, the atmosphere heavy. Evelyn couldn't help but sense that things weren't so simple.

"You said that when you entered, Kenny was dead. However, based on the results of the autopsy, the officer arrived more than an hour after death occurred. In other words, you stayed in the room for over an hour?" the officer furrowed his brows and asked.

Evelyn answered truthfully, "I was brought in unconscious by someone else. I woke up and found him dead. You can check the surveillance footage. It should show that I didn't enter on my own."

Her words didn't convince the officer, who responded, "The hotel's surveillance system is broken, so no one can confirm what you're saying."

The expected outcome didn't surprise Evelyn. If someone wanted to frame her, they would naturally ensure that there was no chance for any evidence to be found. Surveillance cameras are the kind of thing that wouldn't be allowed to exist.

"But even so, you can't suspect that I killed him, can you?" Evelyn asked, feeling that the police should have other evidence.

In response, the police produced a bag containing the knife used to kill Kenny, "We found your fingerprints on it, and there was a large amount of blood on your person. For now, you are the prime suspect."

Fingerprints...

The other one was meticulous in their planning, considering everything to frame her.

"I didn't kill the man. You can access the surveillance footage of my activities throughout the day and see that several men surrounded and knocked me unconscious," Evelyn said.

"We will investigate."

"And, I hope you

"First, let's determine whether the surveillance malfunctioned from the beginning or if it was damaged after capturing the footage.

If it is the latter, we should find a way to repair the damaged surveillance video and perhaps gain some insights from it," she said.

As she spoke, the police officer sitting across from her listened attentively and realized, after finishing writing, that he was the police officer and shouldn't be led around by the nose. His expression soured, and he said, "You are now a suspect, so understand your identity. It is our job to investigate the case, and you don't need to intervene unnecessarily."

"Please don't misunderstand, I want to solve the case when possible and help the police. Everyone has a responsibility," she smiled brightly.

The police officer opposite her thought she was audacious. Despite all the evidence being against her, she could still smile. Was she not afraid that nothing would be found in the end and she would become the murderer?
