Chapter 961 Someone Is Following

Ruby didn't answer Alex's questions directly, but Alex didn't mind. "You'll be seeing a lot of me soon," he said.

It was clear: he'd be around Ruby a lot, giving her plenty of chances to see him.

Ruby stayed quiet, unsure how to respond.

They didn't walk long since it was pretty cold. Evelyn suggested calling it a night, and Dermot offered to walk her home. Naturally, Alex would take Ruby back.

On the way, Ruby and Alex didn't talk much. During the silence, Alex noticed a car following them. His expression changed, worried it might be an enemy.

Being a cop, making enemies was part of the job.

He sent the car's license plate to a colleague for a check. Soon, he got the info: the name Craig. Alex glanced at Ruby.

Ruby sensed his look. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Alex said, putting away his phone.

They soon reached Kite Manor. Alex watched Ruby go inside and waited until she texted him she was safe before leaving.

As he got to his car, he saw the same car parked across the street.

He knew Craig.

Not because of Ruby, but because of Craig's shady past. In a previous case, Craig's name came up, but there wasn't enough evidence to nail him.

After meeting Ruby, Alex learned about her situation and her ties to Craig.

He realized he couldn't let Ruby end up with Craig, especially since he had feelings for her.

Craig noticed Alex watching him. He rolled down his window, and they stared at each other.

A moment later, Craig drove off, and Alex left too.

At Evelyn's apartment complex, she and Dermot walked from the parking lot to the elevator.

"What do you think Ruby feels about Alex?" Dermot asked.

Evelyn was curious. "Are you interested too?"

"Just asking," he said, feeling a bit guilty since he wanted info for Craig.

Evelyn saw through him but didn't say anything. As the elevator stopped, she walked out. "I think Ruby likes him, or at least doesn't dislike him."

If Ruby disliked him, she wouldn't act the way she did. Evelyn knew this well.

"Yeah, I see that," Dermot said. Alex's upright nature made it hard for people to dislike him, especially since he was a cop, which made him seem trustworthy.

"If you want to help Craig, tell him to pursue her openly, not use shady tactics. It just makes him look bad," Evelyn said.

Dermot scratched his nose awkwardly. "Hasn't he been pursuing her openly? Since coming to Golombia, he hasn't done anything bad to Ruby."

"Yeah, keep it up," Evelyn said, smiling as she opened her apartment door. She waved goodnight to Dermot and closed the door.
