Chapter 775 You're Overthinking

"I understand everything you're saying, but I can't stay in a state of amnesia for the rest of my life. Besides, you should know the consequences if I don't have the surgery," Dermot said as he scrutinized Margaret, as if doubting her intentions.

Margaret knew that Dermot had to undergo the surgery; she just hoped it could be postponed, even if just for a few months.

However, at this moment, she couldn't say such things and could only respond, "I know. I'm just worried."

"You don't need to worry. I believe my luck won't be that bad." He hadn't yet taken control of the Doyle family, and he wouldn't let anything happen to himself.

Margaret said nothing more. If she continued to persuade him now, it would only provoke Dermot's resentment.

She decided to stop persuading Dermot and instead went to discuss the surgery with Evelyn.

So, that afternoon, when Evelyn saw Margaret in her clinic, she was a bit surprised. She said, "Ms. Martin, do you need something?"

"Yes, I do," Margaret replied.

Evelyn frowned. As she was about to say that it was work hours, Margaret said first, "I'm today's last patient, Dr. Kyte, so you don't need to worry about affecting others."

With that, she handed her registration information to Evelyn.

Evelyn glanced at it and found that Margaret had indeed registered as a patient. Given that, she couldn't say much, "Ms. Martin, what seems to be the problem?"

"I'm not feeling unwell. I'm here to consult about my boyfriend Dermot's situation." Margaret got straight to the point without any pretense.

However, hearing Margaret specifically mention "my boyfriend," Evelyn felt somewhat uncomfortable.

But Evelyn didn't show it and maintained a calm demeanor. She told Margaret, "I've already explained Dermot's situation to him clearly. He should understand it well."

"Yes, he does understand, but I'm still worried," Margaret said.

Evelyn was speechless and didn't know what to say.

"Dr. Kyte, are you confident about this surgery?" Margaret asked.

Evelyn replied with a frown, "Every surgery carries risks. No one can guarantee a 100% success rate."

"That's true, but Dermot is very important to me. He's the one I love, so I hope he can come through safely," Margaret said with deep emotion, which stirred complex feelings in Evelyn.

Evelyn remained silent, but Margaret didn't stop there. "I know you've always been concerned about Dermot's amnesia. You think that if he hadn't lost his memory, he would still like you. So, you really want him to regain his memory, right?"

Evelyn frowned, showing her displeasure. "Ms. Martin, you're overthinking it."

"Am I really overthinking it?" Margaret's tone carried a hint of suspicion. "If I were really overthinking it, Dr. Kyte, you should refuse to perform his surgery."

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh, not knowing what to say, "Ms. Martin, Dermot is the patient. If you really don't want him to have the surgery, you just need to persuade him. There's no need to come to me. After all, as a doctor, if a patient needs surgery, how could I just stand by and do nothing?"

"That's not what I mean. I know the surgery is necessary. I just hope it won't be performed by you, Dr. Kyte," Margaret said.

Evelyn frowned, and Margaret continued, "After all, Ms. Kyte, you and Dermot had a complicated relationship. I'm worried that it might affect your state of mind during the surgery, which would lead to undesirable outcomes."
