Chapter 1309: What Is She Here For Again

After a long-ass flight, the plane finally touched down at Britannica Airport. Evelyn strolled out, whipped out her phone, and gave Dermot a quick call to let him know she made it.

Once she hung up, she tagged along with the hospital crew to the hotel. After a quick breather, she dove into prepping for the next day's meeting.

Meanwhile, Dermot was hustling too.

The old villa was cleared out. He stood in front of their new crib, a grin spreading across his face. This was gonna be his and Evelyn's new pad.

Dermot had bought the old villa 'cause of Joshua, but it was a pain for both Golombia Hospital and the Doyle Group. He'd been itching to move for ages.

Plus, with Joshua gone, there was no reason to stick around.

As Dermot watched the new place fill up with his stuff and the old villa's belongings getting hauled over, it felt like the only thing that changed was the address.

Well, there were some changes.

At least the new place had a party vibe, with golden ribbons all over the joint.

While he was soaking in the new decor, his phone buzzed. Seeing an unknown number, Dermot just hung up.

The phone stayed quiet, but then a text came through.

Dermot read it, his face going dark, totally forgetting about the decorations.

After a bit, he stepped out of the wedding room, phone in hand, and called back the unknown number.

During the meeting days, Evelyn was swamped, but she still made time to call Dermot every day.

But Dermot seemed just as busy, always cutting their calls short.

Evelyn didn't sweat it; she knew Dermot was knee-deep in wedding prep and probably had his hands full.

Feeling a bit guilty, she decided to head home early and surprise him.

She was supposed to fly back tomorrow, but she was already on the plane, ready to catch Dermot off guard.

Dermot had no clue about her early return.

The wedding plans were almost wrapped up; the dress and rings were in. All that was left was the big day.

Todd knocked and walked in, looking stressed. "Mr. Doyle, Ms. Clark is downstairs; she wants to see you."

"What does she want now?" Dermot groaned at the mention of Ava's name. He'd done everything he could; what more did she want?

"No idea; she just said she needs to see you," Todd replied.

Dermot frowned, knowing Evelyn would be back tomorrow, and said, "Fine, let her up."

He needed to sort out Ava's mess before Evelyn got back to avoid any more drama.

There was zilch between Dermot and Ava. He was over her and was baffled when she called.

But since he knew her and she needed help, Dermot couldn't just blow her off, so he agreed to help.

He didn't expect that one favor would turn into a never-ending saga, with Ava constantly coming back.

Dermot wanted to get to the bottom of what she really wanted and hoped she'd spell it out this time to avoid any more headaches.
