Chapter 122 Sorry, I was abrupt
Todd spoke confidently, and Dermot found it somewhat reasonable. The sense of anger that had arisen from being ignored by Evelyn seemed to dissipate slightly.
He chuckled softly, "Is that so? Then, what should I do?"
"There's nothing you can do. Leave it all to time," Todd said.
"Can you speak in an easy-to-understand way?"
"What I mean is, as long as you persist, Ms. Kyte would be eventually moved." He chuckled dryly.
Is that really the case?
Why does he feel like Evelyn's heart is made of iron and can't be shaken no matter what?
Moreover, there are so many men surrounding her, from Aidan Keith in the past to the sudden appearance of Greg now. Although the latter hasn't done anything, Dermot just feels that he has an interest in Evelyn.
Perhaps, this is a man's intuition?
At the hospital, after Evelyn finished explaining Mr. Hamilton's condition to Greg and he understood how critical the situation was at the time, he became even more grateful to her.
"I'm really thankful to you. If it weren't for you, my old man might not be alive anymore," he sincerely said.
Evelyn waved her hand, not taking it to heart. "You already thanked me. There's really no need to be so polite."
"I just don't know how to properly thank you," he said.
"You don't need to do anything. Just go and see your father," Evelyn said.
Greg nodded, then got up and walked towards the door. However, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. "Ms. Kyte, are you free tonight? Let's have a meal together as a way for me to express my gratitude."
Evelyn furrowed her brows and immediately declined, "No thanks. I've said before. This is what I should do."
"Sorry, I was abrupt," Greg noticed her dislike and apologized before leaving the office.
After the people left, Evelyn's expression became grave. She remembered the list her grandfather gave her before he passed away, which contained the names of trustworthy and untrustworthy families.
"Evelyn, if you meet someone from the list whom you can trust, try to build a good relationship with them. Perhaps one day they can help you."
Grandfather passed away, and she was too heartbroken to pay attention to the list. Now, upon closer inspection, she realizes that there is a big problem.
As an ordinary person, why would she need the help of these prestigious families on the list? What did grandfather mean?
Rubbing her temples, she couldn't figure it out no matter how hard she tried.
Perhaps it's better not to think about it and just go with the flow.
The Hamilton family is also one of the families on the list that can be befriended, which is one of the reasons why Evelyn has a good attitude towards Greg.
However, after he suddenly asked her out to dinner, she suddenly felt that this person might not be that great after all. Who knows, he might be similar to Kenny, and her fondness for him diminished instantly.
Putting aside whether she will actually need these people's help in the end, even if she does, Evelyn thinks that she needs to have some strength of her own, otherwise, who would help her?
Thinking about this, she suddenly became eager and realized that she needed to discuss with Aidan about collaborating with Keith to take down the Barns family.
Aidan's company needs to continue expanding, and she also needs to do something of her own. She has had her eye on the clothing brand under the Barns family for a long time.
She must act quickly.
At this moment, Greg is unaware of Evelyn's considerations. After coming out of his office, he realizes that he was too abrupt and shouldn't have invited her so casually, making him appear frivolous.
Feeling remorseful, he reaches the intensive care unit and looks at the old man who is still unconscious, sighing helplessly, "I've told you to take care of your health, and you didn’t take it seriously. Look what happened now?"
"It's also that you're lucky. Fortunately, there was someone in Moris City who could save your life."
Though the words sound harsh, the worry in his eyes is genuine.
"Guard the door and don't let anyone approach," he instructs the suited man standing beside him.
With the sudden unconsciousness of the old man and the unrest in the Hamilton family, he still has many things to do.
