Chapter 1227: Destined to Be Sleepless
"Evelyn, I don't give a damn about all that. Actually, it was my idea." She still had feelings for Blake, but marriage? Nah, she wasn't about that life.
She figured they could just be together without all the paperwork.
Since Bella was cool with it, Evelyn dropped it. "If you guys are good with it, then it's all good."
It was their call anyway. Even though she was their kid, she didn't have the right to butt in too much.
That was the end of that convo. Blake wanted to ask Evelyn and Dermot when they were tying the knot, 'cause they were thinking of doing a world tour after the wedding.
But remembering what Dermot said in the kitchen, he thought it might be too soon to bring it up.
Whenever they got hitched, Blake and Bella could always come back in time.
After dinner, the vibe was chill. For a moment, Evelyn felt that warm, fuzzy family feeling, but it was as fragile as spun sugar, melting away the second she left Kyte Manor.
"I think your folks are still head over heels for each other. You don't need to stress," Dermot said from the back seat, with Evelyn leaning on his shoulder, trying to cheer her up.
Evelyn got what he meant. "Yeah, I know. I'm not worried. I'm happy for them."
Was she really happy?
But Dermot couldn't see any joy on her face.
"Dermot, have you ever thought about what the future holds?" Evelyn suddenly asked, curling up in Dermot's arms.
Dermot paused but quickly replied, "I don't really know what the future holds, but one thing's for sure. You're in it."
Evelyn felt a little flutter in her heart, a smile creeping onto her lips, and the unease in her heart eased up a lot. "Hmm, that sounds awesome."
Back at the villa, whether it was the booze or something else, Evelyn clung to Dermot and wouldn't let go. Dermot had to lie down with her on the bed.
The mood started to shift.
"Evelyn, babe, if you keep moving like that, I can't be held responsible for what happens next," Dermot whispered. He'd been super patient, but Evelyn was driving him wild, pushing him closer to the edge.
Evelyn looked up, her lips just brushing Dermot's chin. "So what?"
She said it softly, but Dermot heard it loud and clear.
Dermot chuckled and then pinned her beneath him.
Evelyn, with slightly teary eyes, blinked at him, not realizing how irresistible she looked to Dermot.
Almost instantly, Dermot lowered his head and kissed her lips.
That night was destined to be sleepless.
At the Doyle Group, early in the morning, Todd could tell Dermot was in a great mood.
"Mr. Doyle, looks like the Bush family is making some moves," Todd reported.
Dermot's smile vanished instantly. "The Bush family? What are they up to?"
"Seems like they're secretly talking to a few other families, but we don't know what they're planning yet," Todd answered, a bit worried.
Ever since Leonard took over the Bush family, Todd felt Leonard wouldn't back down easily and would definitely try to mess with Dermot behind the scenes.
Dermot knew this too. "He's asking for trouble!"
"Let's teach the Bush family a lesson. If he backs off, fine. If not, we'll make the Bush family disappear," Dermot said firmly.
