Chapter 647 An Unexpected Call
Just as Evelyn had guessed, before noon, the Smith family and the Johnson family jointly announced the good news that Lucia and Hubert's engagement ceremony would be held in a week.
For a while, not only was there a lot of discussion within the company, but many people were also talking about it online.
However, most of the discussions were filled with blessings.
After all, in their eyes, the Smith family and the Johnson family were a perfect match, and even if Lucia married into the Johnson family, she would become a wealthy lady, much stronger than those working-class people.
Evelyn casually glanced at the online comments for a moment, then ignored them and started working.
It had been a long time since the last successful collaboration, and during this time, she had been busy with other matters. If she didn't start working again, everyone might think she was just idling around.
She looked at the customer information she had on hand, hesitating about who to approach.
Many of these people were introduced to her by Blake at a previous banquet, so she thought that if she approached them directly, they wouldn't refuse.
However, this seemed too easy, and Evelyn didn't want it to be that simple.
Just as she was hesitating, her phone rang, displaying an unfamiliar number. She found it strange but still answered the call.
"Ms. Smith."
A man's voice came from the other end of the phone, and Evelyn was unfamiliar with it. "Who is this?"
"The Johnson family, Eugene. Technically, you should call me cousin." Eugene was speechless. Was he really that unrecognizable? He clearly greeted Evelyn last time they met.
Eugene?
After a brief moment of confusion, Evelyn recalled Eugene's appearance from their last meeting and vaguely remembered him.
"Do you need something?" She wasn't in the mood to chat with him, let alone call him cousin. That was out of the question.
Her attitude made Eugene a bit displeased, but remembering his father's instructions, he held back his temper and said, "Are you free? I'd like to invite you for a meal."
Evelyn frowned. This was probably a typical case of offering unnecessary kindness.
She remained silent, and Eugene became a bit nervous. "I heard you've been working in the Smith Group's business department recently, and I happen to have a project that I'd like to collaborate on," Eugene said.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn's eyes lit up. "Sure, tell me the address."
Soon, she received the address from Eugene and without any hesitation, she got up and headed over.
She wasn't particularly interested in this project, but perhaps she could use it to do something with the Johnson family.
Before long, the car stopped at the entrance of the restaurant, and Evelyn walked in.
Inside the lobby, Evelyn looked around and immediately spotted Eugene sitting by the window.
Although she didn't like Eugene very much, she couldn't deny that he was good-looking. Upon careful thought, it seemed that most of the top ten family members she had met were quite good-looking.
This must be what they call genetics.
"You're here? Please, have a seat." Seeing her, Eugene greeted her with a smile.
Evelyn didn't hesitate and sat down across from him.
Instead of speaking immediately, she stared at Eugene, trying to read something from his eyes.
Feeling a bit chilly under her intense gaze, Eugene felt that Evelyn's eyes were too scary, as if she could see right through him.
"Would you like to order something?" Unable to contain himself, he spoke up, unable to remain calm.
Evelyn chuckled lightly. "Anything is fine, you decide."
Upon hearing this, Eugene called the waiter over and ordered a few signature dishes.
"Weren't you here to discuss the project with me? Let's talk about it." Evelyn didn't continue the silence and directly asked.
Upon hearing this, Eugene took out the project proposal, seeming prepared.
Evelyn took it, flipped through it, and smiled. "Development in the south of the city? Isn't this the project you just acquired? Why would you be willing to share it with others?"
