Chapter 1190: We'll Wait and See
The long kiss finally broke, and Evelyn shot Dermot a look. "You're such a shameless jerk!"
He claimed he was upset, but really, he just wanted another smooch. "A little shamelessness around you ain't so bad," he said, still clutching Evelyn, not ready to let go.
A dry cough echoed from upstairs, making Evelyn yank herself away from Dermot.
Blake came down the stairs, pretending he hadn't seen a thing. "Evelyn, you good? Run into any trouble?"
"Dad, I'm fine. What about you? You weren't freaked out, were you?" Evelyn pulled herself together, brushing off what just happened.
As they chatted, Blake plopped down in the living room, right across from Evelyn and Dermot. "This little scare ain't got nothin' on me."
"You're the best," Evelyn said with a grin.
Then, Evelyn brought up teaming up with Oscar, but Blake looked worried. "You think he'll go for it? Nathaniel's his dad, after all. Most folks wouldn't go against their own father."
"Most folks wouldn't, but Oscar ain't most folks." To be real, the Flores family ain't your average family.
Blake, still unsure, left the call to Evelyn. "It's your call. As long as we get your mom out, I'm cool with it."
"Alright, don't sweat it, I'll give it my all," Evelyn replied.
Blake headed back to his room, giving Evelyn and Dermot some space. He knew better than to butt in on their thing.
Once he was gone, Evelyn turned to Dermot. "Why didn't you say anything just now? Scared of my dad?"
"I was just worried he'd think less of me. Sometimes it's better to zip it and not mess up," Dermot explained. Blake had never been thrilled with him since his split with Evelyn.
Evelyn chuckled, eyeing Dermot with amusement. "Never thought I'd see you scared of anyone. It's kinda funny."
"Quit teasing. I'm doing this for you." He was terrified of losing Evelyn, so he cared about her family's opinions.
Evelyn smirked and didn't argue. She knew if it weren't for her, Dermot wouldn't be like this.
She reached out and patted Dermot's shoulder, smiling. "Keep it up. I'm rooting for you."
"Alright, I'll keep at it and make sure your dad warms up to me soon," Dermot said.
Evelyn just kept laughing.
Meanwhile, Oscar got home and saw Nathaniel chilling in the living room. He felt a shiver, like he'd been caught red-handed.
But he quickly pulled it together and walked over. "You wanted to see me?"
"You went to see Evelyn?" Nathaniel asked.
At the same time, Bella stormed out of her room, glaring daggers at Oscar.
Oscar nodded, staying cool. "Yeah, didn't I tell you? I'm really into her."
"Oscar! I'll dig up your mother's grave!" Bella screamed, but it wasn't very threatening since she could barely leave the house.
Nathaniel shot her a look and said calmly, "Go back to your room."
Bella wanted to snap back, but the dangerous glint in Nathaniel's eyes shut her up.
In the end, she slinked back to her room. She was genuinely scared of Nathaniel, especially his punishments when he was mad.
