Chapter 333 Stay With Me For A While
Mason was so scared that he couldn't speak and even started trembling. This was the first time he had seen Dermot like this in the many years he had known him, so it was understandable that he was slow to react.
"I'm warning you, if you say one more thing you shouldn't say, I'll make you disappear from Morris City. Do you believe me?" Dermot threw Mason aside and turned to wash his hands before leaving.
Mason half-lay on the ground, taking a while to recover, unable to hold back his rage. "Dermot! You jerk!"
Back in the private room, it was a while before Mason returned. Everyone noticed that his expression was off, but no one asked at this moment.
Evelyn glanced at the people around her and asked quietly, "Did you teach him a lesson?"
"Yeah." Dermot didn't deny it. "He deserved it for not knowing any better and daring to talk to you like that."
"It's fine, really. I'm not angry, so let's not make a big deal out of it." After all, they were friends, and Evelyn didn't want things to get too complicated because of her.
Dermot pulled her into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Your lack of anger shows your magnanimity, not a reason for him to bully you."
Bully? Evelyn didn't feel like she was being bullied. She also didn't allow others to dictate how she felt.
Allowing oneself to be bullied, even if the other person is Dermot's friend, always calls for a good retaliation. Of course, it made Evelyn happy that Dermot was willing to stand up for her.
The party went on until late at night, and it was only when Dermot and the others were almost drunk that it finally ended.
Helpless, Evelyn called a designated driver for them before driving Dermot back herself.
Supporting the man at the door, Evelyn looked troubled. "Dermot, where are your keys?"
The man didn't say a word, appearing quite drunk.
Just as Evelyn was debating whether to take him back to her place, Dermot, in his drunken state, finally spoke up, "In my bag."
Evelyn reached into Dermot's bag and retrieved the keys. She opened the door, turned on the lights, and froze the moment she saw the interior.
The living room was pitch black, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that Dermot had painted the walls black. In the middle, there was a white couch, and aside from that, nothing else, making it seem particularly spacious.
In that instant, Evelyn pondered many things. She recalled Dermot's fear of the dark and now seeing this kind of decoration, she started to worry about his mental state. It seemed like she should find an opportunity to have a good conversation with him.
With this in mind, she supported the man and entered the house. It took her quite a while to find the man's bedroom door; it was difficult since both the door and the walls melded into one in black. Evelyn was lucky to have managed to find it as someone who was entering for the first time.
After putting the man on the bed, Evelyn glanced at the bedroom. Though it was also quite spacious, it was better than the living room.
Looking at Dermot, who had fallen asleep, Evelyn sighed helplessly and turned to leave.
"Hmm?"
Just as she took a step, her wrist was grabbed, and when she lowered her head, she saw that Dermot had opened his eyes at some point.
"You're awake?" Evelyn was surprised.
"Yeah, I wasn't really sleeping, just in a daze." He had indeed drunk quite a bit tonight, and his head was now throbbing as if it had exploded.
Rubbing his forehead, he gave a strong tug, pulling Evelyn into his arms. "Don't go, stay with me for a while."
"Alright." Evelyn didn't refuse. After seeing Dermot's choice of decoration, she suddenly felt sorry for this man.
Thinking about how his father had abandoned him and his mother had died in front of him, the impact and pain he had experienced were not something an ordinary person could bear.
"Dermot, I want to talk to you about something." She hesitated and decided to open up. She felt that if things continued like this, something bad would eventually happen.
