Chapter 42 I'm Not That Fragile
However, Evelyn just glanced at him and then opened her phone, seeing the hot search about her.
Casually scrolling through the comments, she knew roughly what had happened.
"Don't be upset. Those netizens don't know the truth; they are just being manipulated by public opinion," Dermot looked at her with some concern.
Evelyn put away her phone, looking indifferent, "Don't worry; I'm not that fragile."
If a few comments from the outside world could easily influence her, she wouldn't have made it to where she is today.
After sorting out her emotions, she looked towards the woman, ready to ask her what she wanted. Unfortunately, before she could speak, a group of reporters with cameras and microphones rushed towards her, surrounding her.
"Are you Dr. Kyte? As a doctor, refusing to perform surgery for a patient, do you not think that you lack medical ethics?"
"That child was only sixteen years old and died like this. Can you live with yourself?"
"Some people say that you became an associate director through unfair means. Can you explain this?"
The questions kept coming, and Evelyn's expression turned cold. She looked at one of the reporters, "Who told you the child died?"
"This...isn't it true? Didn't he die from massive bleeding?"
Evelyn looked at him coldly, then swept her gaze over everyone. "As journalists, you can't even investigate the basic facts. I suggest you all go home and get some rest."
"You!"
One reporter was angered by her words and questioned her, "Don't think someone has your back so you can act recklessly. Doctors like you who lack ethics should be condemned by everyone."
Evelyn smiled. Condemned by everyone? Anyone would think she had done something unforgivable.
Seeing an opportunity, the woman rushed over, crying and saying, "Kind people, please help me get justice for my son. It was this heartless doctor who refused to perform surgery on my son, so I had to transfer him to another hospital. Who could have expected something like this to happen!"
"It's all her fault that my son is gone. Everyone must help me get justice!"
She cried so heartbreakingly that everyone was moved.
Suddenly, everyone's eyes towards Evelyn changed, as if they were looking at a heinous villain.
"Sister, don't worry. We will definitely get justice for you," one reporter said sternly.
At this moment, even Dermot, who knew these people couldn't afford to offend Keith and his group, looked especially grim.
He could drive these people away, but he couldn't stop them from spreading rumors outside. If this matter was not handled properly, it could affect Evelyn's reputation in the future.
Just as he was at a loss, applause came from the end of the corridor, and everyone turned to look.
"What a big show," Keith walked over, smiling, standing beside Evelyn.
"General Zhan, are you going to help Dr. Kyte? Don't forget that she almost killed a child," an angry reporter said.
They all knew Keith, including Dermot, next to him. They couldn't afford to offend him, so they ignored him and only targeted Evelyn.
But if Keith really intervened, they wouldn't just let it go. After all, with their pens, they could easily gain public support with just a few words.
"I'm not helping anyone. I'm just stating the truth," Keith raised a corner of his mouth, looking at the woman.
In an instant, the woman's face turned pale.
