Chapter 494 Watch Your Mouth

She had only married Blake because he told her that the homewrecker and her child were dead, which made her believe that they posed no threat.

Now, it seemed clear that Blake had lied about the death of his mistress's daughter just to ensure her survival.

"Watch your language! That's my daughter you’re talking about," he said, his face stone-cold as he glared at Dora, his dissatisfaction with her evident.

Dora, well aware of how ruthless Blake could be, chose not to confront him.

"You've played me for a fool all these years," she said with a mocking laugh, her tone equally harsh.

Blake smirked indifferently, "If you hadn't cornered me back then with the Kytes, I wouldn't have had to do it."

He longed to have his daughter by his side, but given the circumstances, keeping her close might have meant Evelyn wouldn’t be alive today.

"So, you’re saying it's all my fault?" Dora scoffed disdainfully.

"I couldn't care less if your little harlot is dead or alive. Let me make it clear to you, Lucia is the only Kyte family daughter. If anyone dares to challenge her position, you know what I'm capable of."

Blake’s expression darkened, showing no sign of backing down, "Dora, get it straight, this is the Kyte family.”

"Is that so? You’re determined to bring that little ‘harlot’ back into the fold?" Although she had anticipated this outcome, the confirmation chilled Dora to the core.

After all these years, that woman still held the top spot in Blake's heart.

His silence was telling enough.

In his plans, Evelyn was destined to be welcomed back into the Kytes, entitled to everything they owned.

As for Lucia...

She was never supposed to exist. A sizable fortune to last her a lifetime should be ample.

The conversation had seemingly reached an impasse. Blake stood up to leave but not before giving a final warning, "Don't you even think about harming Evelyn; if you do, I won't hold back."

The Blake of today was not the man he once was; even up against the Roberts family, he would not easily be outmatched.
Over the years, the Kyte family has grown increasingly powerful under his leadership, eclipsing the once-thriving Roberts family, which has now begun to spiral downward.

Those in the Kyte family who once opposed him have been systematically handled by Blake. To put it bluntly, the Kyte family now dances to Blake's tune alone.

This very confidence is why he boldly plans to bring Evelyn back into the fold, for he now has the means to ensure her safety.

Dora understands all of this, which only strengthens her resolve to prevent Evelyn's return. If Evelyn were to come back, Dora's daughter would lose everything.

Dawn breaks, and as the sun rises in the east, its rays casting light upon the earth, the woes of yesterday dissolve into the ether, signaling the start of a new day.

This morning, Evelyn rises early. She's taking Ella to the Kyte Group to confront the father who seemingly despised her enough to want her dead.

She's well aware that Ella isn't Blake's emissary, but what does it matter? Dora is now his wife, and her actions might as well be his.

Don't waste breath explaining Blake's past desperation; Evelyn isn't interested. Actions and outcomes are all that matter to her.

The fact remains that she grew up orphaned, her father fully aware yet never once seeking her out. To claim she harbors no resentment would be an outright lie.

Resentment demands expression, and that has always been Evelyn's way.
