Chapter 1003: What Do You Mean
When Dermot got back to the hospital, Evelyn was already discharged, and the room was empty.
He headed straight to Joshua's room and found Evelyn there, along with Aidan, who probably came to check on Joshua.
Dermot didn't go in; he just sat on a bench outside.
He felt useless but couldn't just leave.
Inside, Aidan looked at Joshua and said, "Don't worry; we'll find a way."
"Yeah," Joshua replied flatly.
"You saved Evelyn. If you end up in a wheelchair, we'll take care of you," Aidan added.
Joshua frowned and said, "I know."
He didn't need Aidan's help; having Evelyn was enough.
Aidan gave some more advice and left the room, spotting Dermot outside.
"What are you doing here?" Aidan asked coldly.
Dermot chuckled, "Waiting for Evelyn."
"The Doyle family has plenty for you to do. Why waste time waiting for Evelyn? She doesn't need you to babysit her," Aidan said. He had stopped pushing Evelyn and Joshua together, acknowledging her relationship with Dermot.
But he didn't expect Dermot to fail in protecting Evelyn.
Dermot shrugged off Aidan's tone. "I know she's busy with Joshua. You don't need to remind me."
"Joshua got hurt because of her. Shouldn't she take care of him?" Aidan said, seeing Dermot's discomfort but not caring.
"Yes, she should. I'd even help. But she can't take care of him forever, right?" Dermot replied, staring at Aidan.
"What do you mean?" Aidan frowned.
"Didn't Evelyn tell you? Joshua asked her to never leave him. Isn't that asking her to take care of him forever?" Dermot sneered.
Aidan's face darkened. "How is that possible!"
He knew Joshua liked Evelyn but didn't expect him to ask her to stay forever.
Dermot said nothing.
"I'll get to the bottom of this. Evelyn is my sister, and I won't let her be wronged," Aidan said, storming back into the room.
Soon, arguing erupted inside.
Evelyn and Aidan were clearly upset.
Dermot just listened, wanting to know if Evelyn really wanted to stay with Joshua or if she was being forced.
After a while, Aidan pulled Evelyn out, and she saw Dermot.
"Did you tell Aidan that?" she asked coldly.
