Chapter 816 I Won't Forgive You
No one spoke again, and Eugene nodded in satisfaction before looking at Blake and Wade. "You two are very happy to see that the Roberts family has gone bankrupt, aren't you?"
"Eugene, just name your demands. Let Evelyn go first, and I'll be the hostage," Blake said, looking at the close distance between Evelyn and Eugene. If an explosion had happened now, not even a miracle could have saved them.
Eugene sneered. "I've told you, don't move."
Blake didn't dare to move; he was truly afraid of angering this madman.
Everyone was waiting for Eugene to state his demands. Whether it was money or something else, they could agree to it as long as he let them go.
On the other side, Ruby had returned home. She thought the exhausting banquet was finally over, and she could relax, but she found someone standing at her door.
She immediately became nervous and hesitated to approach.
But her home was right there. If she didn't go, was she supposed to wait outside until dawn?
Moreover, why should she be afraid of him? This wasn't Moris City; he couldn't do whatever he wanted here.
Seemingly convincing herself, Ruby walked towards the entrance of the neighborhood. Under the streetlight, she saw who was standing there.
Sure enough, it was Craig.
Actually, from a distance, she could guess who it was by his figure, but she held onto a bit of hope until she saw his face, hoping it might just be someone who looked like him.
But now, that bit of hope was completely shattered.
Ruby wanted to ignore him and walk past, but since Craig was waiting there, how could he let her go so easily?
His tall figure blocked her path directly. "Ruby, let's just talk."
Ruby couldn't help but roll her eyes and took two steps back to keep her distance. "I don't think there's anything to talk about with you."
She had said everything she needed to in Moris City. Rehashing old conversations would be pointless.
"But I don't think so," Craig said, showing no intention of moving aside.
At the banquet tonight, he didn't approach Ruby, not because he didn't want to, but because he didn't dare.
He hid in the shadows, watching those men approach Ruby. He was extremely jealous but didn't dare to interrupt.
Craig felt he couldn't just sit and do nothing as he saw Ruby leave, so he waited at the entrance of Ruby's neighborhood, feeling he should say something to her.
Ruby felt annoyed and a bit scared. Even though they were in Golombia, her fear of Craig was deeply ingrained, and she didn't dare to be too harsh.
"What do you want to say?" She took a deep breath, restraining her urge to curse.
Craig asked himself the same question.
After a long silence, Craig finally said slowly, "I'm sorry."
Ruby was puzzled.
She thought, 'Did I mishear that? Was he apologizing to me?'
It felt unreal. She even doubted if the person in front of her was really Craig.
"I didn't consider your feelings back in Moris City. I apologize," Craig said.
Saying the words "I'm sorry" was extremely painful for him. He had never apologized to anyone in his life.
But he knew Ruby hated him now. If he didn't apologize, she might never want to see him again.
Ruby had been waiting for the apology for a long time. Now that it had finally come, she found she wasn't as happy as she had imagined.
She looked at Craig with a mixed feeling. "I accept your apology. I don't want to dwell on the past, but I won't forgive the harm you caused me."
She could let it go, but that didn't mean she forgave him.
