Chapter 489 I'm Not That Petty

Evelyn's words seemed to send Dermot into deep thought. He had felt something was off himself. After the therapy, he didn't feel any relief; rather, the fear of losing something had intensified. Hearing Evelyn say this, Dermot realized that maybe the psychologist he found wasn't up to par.

"Didn't you say you knew a psychologist?" Dermot asked. He decided to go with Evelyn's suggestion, perhaps that would bring some improvement.

Although he felt there was nothing wrong with how things were now, since Evelyn was everything to him, if she wanted him to get back to normal, then getting back to normal wasn't a bad thing. After all, he always believed that no matter what, his affection for Evelyn wouldn't decrease in the slightest.

Hearing him take the initiative, Evelyn naturally wouldn't refuse. She trusted the psychologist her alumnus recommended much more than the one Dermot had found. Without any hesitation, she immediately sent Dermot the contact information and urged him to get in touch soon.

After sending the contact details, she worried Dermot might overthink, so she reassured him, "I don't mean anything else by this, don't think too much. I'm just worried about you."

Over the phone, Dermot could tell she was being cautious, and he replied with a helpless chuckle, ‘I know, I'm not that petty.’

After chatting casually for a bit more and noticing it was getting late, Dermot reluctantly ended the call.

The next morning, Evelyn woke up to a call from Lassie, telling her that Grandpa Doyle had woken up. Evelyn was surprised; she hadn't expected Grandpa Doyle to wake up so quickly. She quickly got dressed and went out, deciding to visit the hospital herself. Only by seeing him with her own eyes could she truly be at ease.

At the hospital, after a thorough check-up of Grandpa Doyle and confirming there was no immediate danger to his life, she truthfully informed the Baker family, who were all very grateful to her.

"Dr. Kyte, my parents would like to invite you for lunch to express their gratitude," Lassie said, following Evelyn out of the ward, somewhat embarrassed.

Evelyn glanced at her but declined, "No need, I was just doing my job."

"But..." Lassie still felt somewhat unsatisfied. She felt that Evelyn had helped them a lot, but they had little to offer in return.

As if knowing what she was thinking, Evelyn said with a smile, "Don't feel like you owe me. You've paid for the services."

Her surgical fees were quite expensive, especially since she had come all the way from Moris City to Columbia.

"I know you don't care about money, Dr. Kyte." Although she hadn't spent much time with Evelyn, Lassie was sure of this.

If Evelyn really cared about money that much, she could have just married Dermot; why go through all this trouble?

Evelyn didn't dare to agree with that sentiment. It wasn't that she didn't care about money; it's just that everyone values money differently.

After refusing the Baker family's kindness once more, Evelyn prepared to leave the hospital. After giving the Baker family instructions on what to pay attention to, she wasn't worried about Grandpa Doyle's recovery anymore. The doctors at the hospital in Columbia were professional in this regard.

It was as if Geoffrey had been waiting for her. As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, he approached her.

"Evelyn, you're not busy today, are you? Let me take you out for a meal," Geoffrey said, already out of his white coat and dressed in a black suit, looking very formal.

However, Evelyn had absolutely no interest in him, "Sorry, I'm busy today as well. I appreciate the thought, Geoffrey, but there's no need for a meal."
