Chapter 769 What's It Got to Do with You

Evelyn didn't bother to argue with him. She repeated what she had said and then continued, "I can perform this surgery for you, but you need to understand that there are risks involved."
"Yes, I understand." Since Dermot had come, he had naturally already considered the worst possible outcomes.
With his persistence, Evelyn couldn't help but ask, "I remember you said before that you didn't care about losing your memory. Why are you now thinking about restoring it?"
"What will happen if I don't have the surgery?" Dermot asked.
Evelyn immediately understood and chuckled lightly, "Mr. Doyle, you're quite smart. If you don't have the surgery, over time, you will gradually go blind, and there's a high probability of intracranial bleeding."
Although he could wait until then to have the surgery and Dermot wouldn't die, no one knew what might happen by that time.
Dermot choosing to have the surgery now was actually a very smart decision.
"When can the surgery be done?" Dermot asked.
Evelyn looked at her schedule, thought for a moment, and said, "In a week. I still need to make some preparations and coordinate with other departments in the hospital."
"Alright." Dermot had no objections to her arrangement.
With the medical discussion over, Dermot showed no intention of leaving, so Evelyn had to prompt him, "Mr. Doyle, if there's nothing else, you can go now. I need to see the next patient."
"What is your relationship with Joshua?" Dermot suddenly asked as he looked at her.
Evelyn's hand paused for a moment because she was somewhat surprised. She said, "Mr. Doyle, you're overstepping. This has nothing to do with you."
"I'm just curious," Dermot said.
Evelyn chuckled inwardly and directly called the next patient, "Nancy Wilson."
As for Dermot, Evelyn didn't spare him another glance.
With that, Dermot had no choice but to get up and leave, though he felt a lingering discomfort in his heart.
As he walked out of the consultation room and hadn't yet reached the hospital entrance, he saw Joshua coming to find Evelyn.
Upon seeing Dermot, Joshua was also taken aback but quickly reacted, "Mr. Doyle, are you here to see Evelyn for a consultation?"
"Yes." Dermot nodded. Perhaps he was curious about Joshua's relationship with Evelyn, he didn't leave immediately but chatted with Joshua for a bit.
"Mr. Doyle, you probably don't have any feelings for Evelyn anymore, right?" Joshua asked directly.
Dermot frowned. It seemed that he was unhappy about Joshua's directness. He asked, "What does that have to do with you?"
"It has everything to do with me," Joshua said. "I've known Evelyn since we were very young. I wasn't around these past years, which is why she suffered so much.
"Now that I'm back, I won't let that happen again."
He looked at Dermot with a hint of hostility, "Especially someone like you, Mr. Doyle, who have hurt Evelyn. I hope you won't bother her in the future."
'Don't think I can't see through it. What consultation? It is just an excuse to get close to Evelyn.' Joshua thought.
Dermot's face darkened, and he sneered, "So, Mr. Garcia and Evelyn are childhood sweethearts?"
"You could say that," Joshua didn't deny it. "My only regret now is that when Evelyn confessed to me back then, I didn't accept her."
Upon hearing this, Dermot felt an indescribable irritation. If not for his remaining rationality, he might have lost control and acted out.
"You don't need to tell me about all these, Mr. Garcia. I'm not interested in your relationship with Evelyn, nor do I want to know. I'm just here for the surgery." Dermot's words were insincere, considering he had just been asking Evelyn about her relationship with Joshua.
