Chapter 804 Have Fun
Dermot remained expressionless, but inside, he was very agitated.
His gaze shifted to not far away, where Otis and Jeffery had arrived. Dermot already knew what these two were up to from that dinner.
Even though he knew Evelyn's personality made it impossible for her to be interested in these two, he wasn't entirely sure. After all, could he really say he understood Evelyn anymore?
“Dermot?” Margaret noticed him staring blankly at Otis and Jeffery and asked, “What's wrong? Is there something wrong with those two?”
“Nothing.” Dermot shook his head, not intending to say anything to her.
Margaret's eyes darkened, realizing that he wasn't planning to tell her. Ever since he regained his memory, he hadn't been as open with her as before, clearly keeping things from her.
It wasn't good news, and she needed to find a way to get closer to him.
There were many people at the banquet. Ruby sat quietly in a corner with a glass of champagne. She wasn't really qualified to attend such an event, nor did she want to.
But since today's main character was Evelyn, her best friend, she had to come.
However, ever since she entered the banquet hall, she had felt like someone was watching her.
But looking around, she couldn't find anything.
Still, she didn't let her guard down and remained vigilant. She planned to greet Evelyn when she appeared and then leave, celebrating with her another day.
Soon, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight lit up the stage.
Blake appeared with Evelyn. Without any unnecessary words, he directly announced that Evelyn would officially take over the Kyte Group and the entire Kyte family from today on. He would step back and no longer manage the company's affairs.
She took the microphone and smiled at the audience. “Thank you all for coming to the Kyte family banquet. As you heard from my father, I will be taking over the Kyte Group starting today. However, as you all know, I am a greenhand in this area, so I hope to receive your guidance and support.”
These words were quite humble, and the audience quickly offered their compliments.
“But,” she continued, her tone suddenly sharp as she stared at the crowd, “don't think you can take advantage of my inexperience to cause trouble for the Kyte Group. I'm not to be underestimated, and neither is the Kyte Group.”
The crowd felt as if their little schemes had been seen through, only to laugh awkwardly.
Evelyn was very satisfied with their reaction. She wasn't someone to be trifled with. “I hope you all enjoy the evening.”
With that, she finished her speech and was about to leave when Blake stopped her. Holding the microphone, he smiled at the audience and said, “Besides my daughter, there's someone else I'd like to introduce to you all tonight.”
Joshua was then called to the stage.
After praising him, Blake mentioned his entry into the Kyte Group, hinting that he was being groomed as a successor, which left the audience puzzled.
However, they quickly understood. Joshua's gaze at Evelyn made it clear to even the dullest person what was going on.
They began to wonder if Blake was trying to match the two.
It made sense. Evelyn had no interest in managing the company, and Blake would feel more at ease if Joshua took over.
The audience understood perfectly, and their view of Joshua changed.
After all, he would be the one truly in charge of the Kyte family in the future, and he deserved more respect.
Evelyn was speechless. Blake hadn't mentioned it to her before, and now she had no way to explain it.
