Chapter 1137: Let Him Think It Over

Aidan scribbled out the check, tossed it on the bar, and left the bar. That was when Phoebe finally stepped out from her hiding spot.

She'd pulled herself together, and if it weren't for her puffy eyes, you'd never know she'd been crying.

"What do you even see in a guy like Aidan?" Craig spat when he saw her.

Phoebe just plopped down, not saying a word.

Evelyn handed her the check. "Look, I know you don't wanna deal with him, but for the baby's sake, you gotta take this money."

"You don't need to convince me, I'll take it." But when Phoebe glanced at the amount, her eyes widened.

She looked at Evelyn, then at Craig, who grumbled, "It's just money, no big deal."

"Ms. Kyte, isn't this too much?" Phoebe ignored her brother. Even for the Irvine family, this was a hefty sum.

Evelyn shook her head. "Aidan can make more. Don't stress; just focus on the baby."

"Alright, I get it." Phoebe didn't argue. She knew Aidan was basically paying her off to stay out of his life.

Before, she might've refused, but now, money was everything.

Seeing her accept it, Evelyn sighed in relief. If Phoebe had refused, she wouldn't know how to convince her.

Craig snorted, "You should use that money to get rid of the baby. You're young, don't ruin your life over this."

Phoebe looked him dead in the eye. "Craig, I've made up my mind. The baby's my priority. Keep pushing, and you'll just piss me off."

"I'm just looking out for you," Craig snapped.

Phoebe didn't reply. She didn't need his kind of "help."

Sensing a fight brewing, Evelyn cut in, "Phoebe, let me walk you out."

"Thanks." Phoebe nodded, eager to escape Craig's nagging. She'd heard enough.

Evelyn and Phoebe left the room, leaving Craig and Dermot behind.

Craig fumed, "Was I wrong? I'm just thinking of her future!"

"You're not wrong, but neither is Phoebe. You just don't get a mother's love," Dermot said.

Craig fell silent.

"Let it go. Don't meddle anymore, and definitely don't mess with Aidan. Next time, I won't bail you out," Dermot warned. He didn't want any drama with Evelyn because of Craig.

Craig glared and muttered, "Whipped."

Dermot just grinned. "So what? At least I've got someone."

Outside, Evelyn watched Phoebe drive off. Just as she turned to head back, Dermot appeared.

"Where's Craig?" Evelyn asked, surprised.

Dermot shrugged, "Forget him. He needs to cool off."

Evelyn didn't care what Craig thought, as long as he stayed away from Aidan.

"Don't worry, he won't dare." With Dermot's warning, Craig would probably think twice before acting up again.
