Chapter 339 Boyfriend

"Boyfriend?" Evelyn couldn't believe it and looked at Marina, finding it both amusing and exasperating. "Where did you get the idea that he's my boyfriend?"

"Just a guess." Marina answered sheepishly. She had only made this guess because she noticed that the man was treating Evelyn differently.

"He's not my boyfriend, and I don't really know him." Evelyn wished she could say she didn't even know Greg. Marina looked surprised, clearly taken aback. "Not familiar? Just now, you two seemed quite familiar."

Based on Greg's cheerful demeanor, it didn't seem like they were strangers to each other.

"Do you need something?" Evelyn had no intention of continuing this discussion with Marina and had no objections.

Marina nodded, almost forgetting her purpose. "There's something I need your help with, Eve."

"Huh? Me, help?" Evelyn was surprised, as she didn't think there was anything she could help Marina with.

"Well, here's the thing. My parents set up a blind date for me tonight, but I don't dare to go alone..." She spoke softly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Busy with her medical studies all these years, Marina didn't have many close friends she could ask for something like this. Asking a regular friend to go with her felt inappropriate and would likely result in gossip.

So, after thinking it through, Evelyn was the only person she could turn to.

Considering that her relationship with Evelyn was quite decent and that Evelyn had been kind to her, Marina mustered the courage to ask.

Understanding her intentions, Evelyn quickly grasped her meaning. "You want me to go with you?"

"Yeah." Marina nodded, but then hurriedly added, "If you're busy, never mind. I was just asking..."

"It's fine." Before Marina could finish speaking, Evelyn accepted the invitation.

Marina was taken aback for a moment but quickly smiled. "Thank you, Eve."

"After work, come find me, and we'll go together," Evelyn said.

Marina nodded, smiling, and left Evelyn's office.

Since she had agreed to accompany Marina, Evelyn informed Dermot in advance, telling him he didn't need to pick her up after work.

Coincidentally, Dermot had a social event that night and readily agreed, urging her to be careful and call him if she needed anything.

Just when Evelyn thought everything was going smoothly and she could leave on time, something suddenly happened.

But it wasn't a patient; it was someone causing a disturbance with a journalist in tow, coming to the hospital.

When Evelyn received the notification and rushed to the head doctor's office, a group of people had already gathered there. As soon as she was about to ask what was going on, she saw John's father sitting there.

In an instant, she seemed to have guessed what had happened.

"Is the doctor who abducted your son, as you claim, this Dr. K sitting right in front of us?"

"Of course." The director asked with a serious face. He knew this man in front of him. It was his wife who caused trouble at the hospital before. Now that his wife was in prison, he came to cause trouble again, which was really annoying.

But he didn't show it. After all, the other party was accusing Evelyn of kidnapping his underage son. Such a matter had to be dealt with seriously, especially since the other party brought a journalist along. If it wasn't handled properly, the reputation of the hospital would be ruined.

Robert raised his eyes and glanced at Evelyn, nodding. "It's her, this woman kidnapped my son!"

Unable to find John, he could only look at Evelyn. No matter what, someone had to give him money, otherwise, how could he live?

The director frowned and looked at Evelyn. "Dr. Kyte, what do you have to say about this?"

He believed Evelyn, but in front of the journalist, he couldn't show any bias.

"You say I kidnapped your son, but why don't you talk about how you treated your son? Have you ever treated him as your own son?" Evelyn was irritated. She really didn't expect this man to have the audacity to show up.
