Chapter 1057: Waiting for the Right Moment
Evelyn had the keys to Dermot's villa, which he insisted she take and treat as her own.
At first, she thought it was unnecessary, but now she saw how smart he had been.
Entering the villa, Evelyn headed straight for the study.
She expected to find Dermot busy at his desk, but when she opened the door and saw him collapsed on the floor, she was stunned.
“Dermot!” Evelyn rushed over.
Dermot seemed unconscious. Hearing her voice, he slowly came to and looked surprised. “Evelyn? You…”
“What’s wrong?” Evelyn asked, noticing his pained expression and how he clutched his stomach.
Dermot forced a smile. “It’s nothing.”
“Dermot!” Evelyn was annoyed.
"Don't worry, it's just a stomachache," Dermot said. His stomach issues were a recurring problem from his old habits. Usually, medication helped, but this time it was worse.
Evelyn helped him up. "Can you walk? I'll take you to the hospital."
"No need, just some medicine will do," Dermot replied, clearly hating the idea of a hospital visit.
Evelyn didn't care. She helped him out of the study, got him into the car, and drove to the hospital.
At Joshua's villa, he watched from behind the curtains. Once Evelyn and Dermot left, he stepped onto the balcony, watching their car disappear.
“Mr. Garcia, this is pointless. Ms. Kyte and Dermot will never cut ties,” Brandon said, hoping his boss would see reality.
Joshua understood, his face darkened, and he said nothing.
Brandon continued, “The arrangements for going abroad are ready. We can leave anytime.”
“If you've decided, I'll have the others leave first. Leaving together will draw too much attention.“
Joshua didn't mind leaving, but he worried Evelyn wouldn't agree to come. He still hadn't figured out how to ask her.
“Let's wait for the right moment,” Joshua said.
He was unhappy with Dermot always being around Evelyn, but he knew it was nearly impossible to separate them.
Unless something happened to make Evelyn disappointed in Dermot.
At the hospital, Evelyn got Dermot into the emergency room and waited anxiously outside.
Soon, a nurse came out. Knowing each other well, she got straight to the point. "It's a stomach ulcer. It's not life-threatening, but he shouldn't ignore it."
"I understand, thank you," Evelyn nodded, silently cursing Dermot for his recklessness. He really didn't care about his health.
When Dermot was wheeled out, he was still unconscious. The treatment had stabilized him, but he needed to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.
Evelyn completed the paperwork and stayed in the ward, watching Dermot's pale face. Her heart ached, feeling squeezed.
