Chapter 873 Who Could Have Known That

Otis felt like he was gonna puke when he found out a helicopter had left the horse ranch.

'Why hadn't anyone informed me of the helicopter? If I had known, Dermot wouldn't have gotten away.' Thinking about this made him furious.

He glanced at the emergency room nearby and barely managed to keep his cool.

No way could Otis rush in now. He could only pray that Dermot was already dead. If Dermot survived, his father would be the only one ended up dead this time. That thought made him even angrier.

Soon, the light in the emergency room went out, and a doctor came out. "Sorry, we did our best."

"What did you say? Say it again!" Otis lost it and lunged at the doctor.

Randy slammed his cane on the ground, and Otis had to hold back, not daring to act out in front of him.

Randy sighed, looking like he aged a decade in a second. "Make the funeral arrangements."

"Okay." Zachary nodded, still clueless about how things had spiraled out of control.

Zachary thought, 'Isn't today supposed to be Dermot's death day? How did it end up being Gerald's?'

Randy turned and walked out of the hospital. Otis didn't know whether to follow him or stay put.

"Come here!" Luckily, Randy called out, signaling for him to follow.

Otis breathed a sigh of relief. Even though Gerald was dead, at least Randy hadn't forgotten him. As long as Randy didn't give up on him, he still had a chance.

As for Gerald, Otis didn't feel much sadness, just anger. Getting shot was a huge humiliation for the Doyle family.

Randy walked all the way to the entrance, took a few deep breaths, and finally felt a bit better. He asked, "How's Dermot?"

"What are you talking about, Grandpa?" Otis played dumb. He knew Randy hated family infighting the most, so they had kept this from him from the start.

Randy glanced back at him, looking tired. "Do you think your father would dare to order a shooting without my consent?"

Otis suddenly got it, feeling a mix of emotions, even a bit of resentment. "Grandpa, if you wanted Dermot dead, why did you bring him to Golombia to compete with us for the heir spot in the first place?"

If it weren't for that move, the Doyle family would have been his dad's long ago, and he would be the next heir, and things wouldn't have gotten this messy.

Randy sighed, "I wanted you all to face some challenges back then. Who could have known..."

Who could have known that Gerald and Otis would be so disappointing, while Dermot was so strong and led to today's mess.

Otis didn't know what to say, pursing his lips and staying silent for a long time.

"From the look on your face, it seems things didn't go well with Dermot." Randy sighed again. He had secretly approved of this plan, thinking it was foolproof. But now, it seemed he had underestimated Dermot.

Otis nodded, then shook his head. "Given the situation at the time, he should have been dead for sure. But we never found the body, and a helicopter left the horse ranch, so maybe..."

He didn't finish, feeling too embarrassed to continue.

"A helicopter?" Randy frowned. "Looks like Dermot was prepared for this."
