Chapter 781 It's Not What You Think
"Dr. Kyte said the surgery was successful, but the patient needs to stay in the ICU for now. As long as he gets through tonight safely, there shouldn't be any significant risks afterward," the nurse replied.
Upon hearing this, Craig was completely relieved.
He had been somewhat worried about Evelyn performing surgery on Dermot. After all, he wasn't sure about Evelyn's current attitude toward Dermot. If she did something during the surgery, Dermot would die without a trace.
Fortunately, she didn't do that.
Before long, a nurse wheeled Dermot out of the operating room and took him directly to the ICU. Evelyn also came out at this time, saw Craig at the door, and said to him, "The surgery was successful. You should inform Mr. Henry Doyle."
"Alright, I'll notify him," Craig nodded. With the surgery successful, there was nothing to worry about.
After saying that, Evelyn was about to leave. After taking a few steps, she turned to the two and said, "Someone needs to stay at the hospital tonight. Who's staying?"
She actually said it on purpose, to see Margaret's reaction.
"I'll stay. After all, Dermot is my boyfriend." Margaret volunteered. Since Dermot's surgery was successful, she should do something.
Evelyn had no objections to it, but Craig clearly disagreed, "No need, Ms. Martin. You should go home and rest early. I'll stay here with Dermot."
He didn't trust Margaret at all. She obviously didn't want Dermot to regain his memory.
"Craig! Do you really want to make an enemy of the Martin family?" Margaret was really infuriated by Craig. As Dermot's girlfriend, why couldn't she stay here?
Craig sneered at her words, "Ms. Martin, you're overthinking. I don't mean that."
"You!" Margaret glared at him angrily, but since they were in a hospital, she couldn't do anything to him.
In the end, she could only snort coldly and leave.
If she couldn't stay, so be it. Dermot was unconscious anyway. She would come back when he woke up.
She had her own confidence. If Dermot wanted to control the Doyle family, he would need the Martin family's help, so she wasn't worried that Dermot would break up with her after regaining his memory.
Soon, Margaret left. Evelyn watched her departing figure with a faint smile, then turned to Craig. "Aren't you afraid Dermot will give you trouble when he wakes up for treating his girlfriend like this?"
Craig snorted, clearly not concerned.
For some reason, Craig added, "He and Margaret aren't in the kind of relationship you think."
"Oh? Then what is it?" Evelyn asked with a smile.
Craig wanted to say, but since Dermot hadn't said anything himself, he didn't dare to speak. If it affected Dermot's plan, it would backfire.
"Ask him yourself when he wakes up," he said. It would be better if Dermot explained it himself.
However, Evelyn didn't seem interested. "No need. I was just asking casually. I don't care what their relationship is."
Evelyn was about to leave, but Craig called out to her, "How's Ruby doing lately?"
"She..." Evelyn deliberately paused for a moment. Seeing the anxious look on Craig's face, she laughed, "She's doing well. Ever since she broke up with you, everything has been going smoothly. Now, there are many excellent men pursuing her."
It made Craig's face darken, he pressed, "Are there really many men pursuing her?"
"Of course. Ruby is great. Isn't it normal for men to pursue her?" Evelyn laughed and added, "Mr. Irvine, do you think Ruby can only be with you for the rest of her life?"
