Chapter 173 Grandpa Would Be Disappointed

After Grandpa Doyle left, the atmosphere in the living room became somewhat tense.

Evelyn looked at the time and prepared to leave. She still had to go back and pack her things.

"It's getting late. I won't disturb you any longer," she said, already standing up.

Dermot, however, stood up and came to her side, "Grandpa asked me to take you around Doyal Mansion. If you just leave like this, Grandpa would be disappointed.”

"I didn't mean that..."

"Then let's go. It's just a walk, and Dr. Kyte wouldn't mind, right?" Dermot didn't give her a chance to reject. His tone was firm, and he wouldn't let her leave so easily anyway.

Evelyn really didn't want to walk with Dermot, especially just the two of them alone.

Looking at Natalie sitting there, she said, "Then let Miss Barns go with you. It’ll not cause any unnecessary misunderstandings."

"Fine..."

"Natalie is not that petty. She won't misunderstand." Dermot interrupted before Natalie could say anything.

Natalie's expression changed slightly, and she could only smile and say, "Dermot is right, Ms. Kyte. Feel free to stroll around. I don't mind."

Evelyn was speechless, looking at Dermot, who seemed like a victorious man.

"Okay." She nodded with a smile, although she had a hidden anger in her smile, Dermot didn't mind.

The two of them walked towards the backyard, leaving Natalie looking at their backs, grinding her teeth almost to pieces.

In the backyard, Evelyn silently followed behind Dermot, just wanting to finish the tour quickly and go home.

She had been to Doyal Mansion many times before. She didn't need Dermot to guide her, and she knew what Grandpa Doyle meant. He just wanted to create an opportunity for her and Dermot.

Feeling helpless, she didn't understand why Grandpa Doyle was so persistent. She and Dermot weren't suitable for each other.

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice that Dermot had already stopped, and the next second, Evelyn collided straight into him.

"Ouch!" She lightly exclaimed, looking up to see Dermot looking at her.

"Dr. Kyte, are you throwing yourself at me?" Dermot smirked as if he was joking.

Evelyn didn't say anything. She just glared at him, believing that Dermot could understand what she meant.

Sure enough, Dermot's face changed and the smirk disappeared completely. "Why do you have to go on a medical mission to the rural areas?"

As soon as she left, it would be months before they would see each other again, and Dermot found it difficult to accept.

"The hospital arranged this trip. Are you clear?" She was speechless, too lazy to continue talking to Dermot, and turned around to leave.

However, Dermot grabbed her wrist and firmly held her in place. "You can refuse!"

Although he didn't understand the specifics of the rural medical mission, Dermot knew that as long as Evelyn refused, the hospital would never force her to go.

"Why should I refuse?" Evelyn retorted, feeling that Dermot was ridiculous.

His fiancée was in the living room, and yet he was here asking her this.

"These trivial matters don't matter at all. They're just meaningless."

"Are you avoiding me?" Dermot stared at her, seemingly trying to see through her.

These words made Evelyn nervous, and her voice immediately raised, "Avoiding? What am I avoiding? What do I have to avoid?"

"Because I'm going to marry Natalie, and you can't accept it, so you're avoiding me, right?" Dermot's gaze fell heavily on her, urgently wanting to hear her say it.

Of course, Evelyn wouldn't say what he wanted to hear. Instead, she pushed his hand away angrily and said, "Are you crazy? What do I care about whom you marry? Dermot, you're so narcissistic."
