Chapter 748 Investigate
After they left, Aidan withdrew his gaze and looked at Dermot, who was still standing there. "Thank you, Mr. Doyle, for calling the ambulance. I thank you on behalf of Evelyn."
"No need," Dermot said. He already knew Aidan's identity and could sense Aidan's dislike.
However, Dermot didn't care at the moment; he was just a bit worried about Evelyn.
Aidan decided to drop the pretense of politeness. "Mr. Doyle, I heard you already have a girlfriend? If that's the case, there's no need for you to worry about Evelyn, or it may be misunderstood by your girlfriend."
With that, Aidan got into the car and left. He didn't want to hear anything more from Dermot.
Watching Aidan's car disappear, Dermot remained frowning. Previously, he thought amnesia didn't affect him much, but now he felt differently.
Despite knowing the relationship between Aidan and Evelyn, Dermot couldn't understand the inexplicable hostility from Aidan. It seemed a lot must have happened before.
'I have to regain my memory as soon as possible.' That was Dermot's first thought.
At the hospital, Evelyn was taken into the emergency room. When Aidan arrived, Joshua was still waiting outside.
He walked over and sat down next to Joshua. "How's it going?"
"No news yet," Joshua said, with a hint of worry in his eyes.
Aidan nodded and remained silent, waiting quietly.
"Was that Dermot just now? Evelyn's ex-husband?" Joshua asked. He hadn't met Dermot before but had some guesses.
Aidan's expression darkened slightly, but he nodded. "Do you know why I called you back?"
"What do you mean you called me back? I decided to come back myself, okay?" Joshua was displeased. Even if Aidan hadn't come to find him, he had planned to return soon anyway; it was just a coincidence.
"Fine, I don't want to argue with you," Aidan said, feeling it was pointless to argue about this.
Joshua chuckled upon seeing Aidan concede. "You don't want Evelyn and Dermot to be together? So you called me back to pursue her?"
"Yes," Aidan didn't deny.
Joshua asked, "After all these years, are you sure I can win her over?"
"If you can't, then no one else stands a chance," Aidan responded. After all, Joshua was the only one Evelyn had confessed over the years.
"Since you have so much confidence in me, I won't let you down," Joshua patted Aidan's shoulder and said with confidence.
Aidan glanced at him and frowned. "Although I want you to pursue Evelyn and be with her, the premise is that you like her. If you don't like her and are only pursuing her because I asked, then there's no need."
Aidan wanted someone who would be 100% good to Evelyn, someone who could protect her, not just anyone.
"I understand." Joshua nodded, putting away his smile. "If I didn't like her, I wouldn't have come back."
Hearing Joshua admit he liked her, Aidan was a bit surprised. He wanted to ask why Joshua had rejected Evelyn's confession back then if he liked her.
But before he could ask, the emergency room door opened, and the doctor came out. They immediately went up to the doctor.
"Doctor, how is she?" Aidan asked.
"The patient lost a lot of blood and is temporarily unconscious. After a blood transfusion, she is no longer in life-threatening danger," the doctor said.
Hearing this, both of them breathed a sigh of relief.
Evelyn was then wheeled out of the emergency room and taken to a ward, with Aidan and Joshua following.
At the hospital entrance, Dermot, after hearing that Evelyn was out of danger, inexplicably felt relieved as well.
"Investigate. I want to know where those people came from," he ordered with a stern face.
