Chapter 1100: Does It Still Matter
When Aidan and Niall found out Evelyn was jetting off with Joshua, they surprisingly put their beef aside and had a sit-down with her.
"Evelyn, are you nuts? How could you agree to go abroad with Joshua?" Niall snapped, looking like he was ready to deck Joshua.
Evelyn had never been away from them for long, and with Joshua's vague plans, who knew when she'd be back? No way they could accept that.
Aidan chimed in, "Evelyn, I get that you appreciate what he's done, but this ain't the way to show it. Are you really gonna wreck yourself over him?"
Evelyn felt touched by their concern but kept the truth under wraps, worried they'd go off and confront Joshua.
She knew Joshua's real deal and wasn't about to let her friends get caught in the crossfire.
"Aidan, Niall, I get where you're coming from, but my mind's made up. No need to try and change it," Evelyn said firmly, leaving them both floored.
With that kind of resolve, how could they change her mind?
Both of them felt a headache coming on but still tried to convince Evelyn. "Evelyn, think it over. Are you really willing to leave us behind?"
"Niall, I will come back. Once Joshua is cured, we'll return," Evelyn said.
Once Joshua was cured?
Niall almost blurted out that he thought Joshua would never be cured.
Niall looked at the silent Aidan beside him and nudged his arm. "Aidan, it's your turn to say something."
"Evelyn, have you really decided? No regrets?" Aidan asked.
Evelyn nodded. "Aidan, don't worry. I know what I'm doing."
She couldn't tell them that she wasn't going abroad because it was all part of Joshua's scheme. She could only reassure them.
Aidan sighed, not knowing what to say. "I really regret bringing him back to the country."
He had thought Joshua was better than Dermot and felt assured leaving Evelyn with Joshua.
But now, it seemed Dermot might have been the better choice.
Upon hearing this, Niall immediately turned his anger toward Aidan. "Yeah, it's you who brought Joshua back. Aidan. All of this is your fault!"
"Niall!" Evelyn was displeased. "Aidan didn't do it on purpose. I don't blame him."
"Evelyn, you're just too kind," Niall said angrily.
The two of them continued to persuade Evelyn for a while, but to no avail. In the end, they had no choice but to leave.
However, they didn't leave the villa. Instead, they went to Joshua's room and started berating him.
Joshua didn't argue back and simply replied, "I didn't force Evelyn. If she doesn't want to go, we won't go."
Niall was infuriated by this. Joshua clearly knew Evelyn's character and that she wouldn't refuse, which was why he made such an unreasonable request.
Joshua was too despicable!
"Joshua, did you really agree to return to the country because I persuaded you?" Aidan had begun to doubt, thinking that maybe Joshua had already planned to return and just happened to meet him.
Joshua looked up at him, a slight smile on his lips, and asked, "Does it still matter?"
Anyway, things had developed to this point. The past didn't seem to matter as much anymore.
